Hi, after getting repeatedly flamed by posters and seeing nothing happen, and then seeing notices sent to me for completely innocuous crimes such as responding to someone else in a thread (off topic posts?) I am really unhappy with the way forum rules are being applied.

I see people using vulgar language all the time without any warning or censorship. People calling each other names all the time without any warning or censorship - and then I get a three hour ban for responding when someone says I can't comment on changes made to the system because I don't have rank 50? Did you ban the person who derailed the thread in the first place? Or are only people who are 100% happy with the way the game is allowed to comment? If so what is the purpose of the forums, if not to gather feedback?

I mean, look at this forum. The top post clearly says this forum is for suggestions to the forum doesn't it?

So are you banning/sending warnings to everyone who is posting topics that don't belong here? I see my actual forum suggestion is getting buried in the debris here, but it just continues.

I generally try to be polite and respectful, and I hope this post exemplifies that. I do sometimes lose my cool, but it is hard not to when people are calling you names and telling you that you don't have the right to have an opinion because you play less than them.

I would really hope the forum mods take some time to think about the way they are applying forum rules to ensure that it is being done in a fair and equitable way.

I see people posting telling people to "use the report" button on people that they disagree with, calling them trolls. This doesn't create a healthy community where constructive dialogue can take place.

I would argue that senseless bans and warnings do little except stir the pot and encourage people to abuse the forum rules to silence opposing viewpoints.

I would appreciate it if you took the time to consider these points. I have been a member of numerous forums in the past and never once have I been banned or suspended or even warned for my conduct. I consider myself a reasonable person, and I don't feel like I should have to fear posting in case someone who doesn't like me reports it for some trivial transgression of the rules.

I mean someone posted in a thread "I like your signature" and I was afraid to post "thank you" because it was "off topic" and I didn't want to lose access to XIV over being polite. I shouldn't have to worry about trivial matters like these, but after seeing how trivial my alleged offenses have been, I don't have confidence that I will be treated fairly.

Please, please, consider being more reasonable. I understand the need to maintain order but I would like to see people who are spitting venom, calling others trolls/babies etc be warned than have to worry about posting a "thank you" because it is off topic, and someone that doesn't like me might report me for it.

Please prioritize removing personal attacks and name calling over trivial matters, because it is these things that are poisoning the community.
