I know people have their opinions but why not do it? The worst part is honestly the atma. After that it's just a steady grind that you can see your progression on.

"Oh I'm on my third book"
"Not too bad, I'm at 30 infusions"

If you don't do it now and you like the upgrades of the relics passed novus, uou will be so far behind lolol. And quitting because you can't get something that you put whatever secondary stats you want immediately is childish in my opinion. The game isn't gonna hand everything out to you and you can take these quests at your own pace after atma.

The only advantage to the Relic weapon series is that this is a weapon that SE will (most likely) keep advancing for as long as the game itself keeps advancing. They will continue to add more quests to pump up your Relic weapon even further, and very likely each and every one will be a grindfest.

If you choose not to upgrade your relic, there will always be weapons available that are as good or even better than the Relic, but have the drawback that they will eventually get left behind as the game introduces newer and better equipment.

So, your options are to either do the Relic grind, or go out and obtain each new awesome non-relic weapon as it becomes available (and toss your old non-relic weapons as they become obsolete). The latter option is arguably more fun, which is why so many people opt to just let their relic gather dust.
