Using that logic may as well not bother bringing a Bard in the first place then. If no one dies and there will be no mp issues, then may as well bring a better DPS.
For most content such as primals Bard is a very good DPS class (when played well) regardless of if they sing or not.
A Bard not singing is not really any different from a Healer who does not DPS when they have the time to do so, I see plenty of both in DF.
I'd much rather a Bard doing 300+ and not singing, than a Bard doing 100-200 and singing xD
Having every job at 50 doesn't mean much if you don't play them effectively though.
In that rare example I would agree lol. But I was responding to someone who said they don't bother with ballad because they shouldn't have to. So they would rather wipe because a healer has run out of MP to teach them a lesson than just ballad. Just seems a little bizarre to me. Would be like a healer saying they'd refuse to heal a tank because they weren't using their defensive cooldowns.

+1 with OP on many bards(there are a few good ones). When the tank grabs everything he can and I need to heal him plus knock out Holy, If the bard doesn't sing, it doesn go so well. Bard tosses up any song TP/MP songs and we do great. Bards, your healer(s) would like to see you sing when it is needed and you should also watch for when it is needed. If I toss out the "I need MP now song" that means sing or we wipe. I don't ask if I don't really really need it. In primals, if you see dead players and multiple raises going out, just sing, raising is an MP burner and raising players again and again just kills the mp.
It can go both ways iv had healers wanna use holy but not use Cleric Stance so what's the point of foeing for them? and you say there are only a few good BRDs? so you must have played with almost every BRD in this game then :P as i main BRD and white mage anyone can be bad at there job not only BRDs+1 with OP on many bards(there are a few good ones). *whoosh* That was the point of the post, over you head. BRD is not top DPS. So if you're not going to sing and contribute to the team as a whole AND ONLY DPS........... Why don't they just bring a DPS that does more... DPS?
Seriously. The whole point of bard is to play songs. Without songs brd is just a bad dps. I mean what exactly is a bard adding to the pt without songs? I cant think of anything that another class doesnt do better.
Brd is a support dps class, which means you oversee the battlefield and make decisions that allow the party to kill more efficiently. This almost always includes songs. But it also includes crowd control and finishing off weak mobs. Its a LOT to take in and prioritize, but no job can replace you if you do it well.
The problem is bad brds cant do basic math. If 20% of my dps means everyone else does more, we are probably netting more dps as a party than if i didnt make that sacrifice. We also have higher survivability.
Some people complain about dragoons but the most useless class are the noob bards. Oh look I'm gonna sit back in my safety and slack much using some random attacks and never use all my debunks on mobs and hope nobody will see. Most of them never use their songs. It's so annoying I wanna kick them and forbid them to play this class. And some of them use single attacks when tank pulls many and they never aoe.
