Problem with auto attack

My auto attack doesn't work. I will enter a fight and just stand there,

I am able to use my timed attacks such as light stab or heavy thrust every 30 or 60 seconds but I do not auto attack in between.

With no auto attack my TP only goes up when I am hit in combat, so I can only use maybe 1 500 TP skill one time in combat. I am IN COMBAT, I have the mob in target, can do damage to him when using my timed skills, I do not auto attack.

I can not kill a mob in combat


I have this game installed on 3 pc's. The problem seem to occur more on the lower end pc's than the high end so that makes me think that some how auto attack is a client based service.

I cant play the game if I cant fight, any help?

Is the sword icon next to the target yellow or red when you are engaged?

If it's yellow then you will just stand there, if it's red you will engage in AA.

You can still be in combat but not have AA turned on, its terribly annoying. One thing to check is if the target animation is still a spinning circle or the three arrows, if it shows the three arrows then the auto attack will start up. Also just using a skill doesnt mean your AA will be turned on. If you start combat with a skill like light shot or any other basic attacks it wont actually put you in full combat.

this was happening to me yesterday. I had to disengage/reengage several times.

Yes I have 3 arrows, and a sword swinging ICON after I enter combat. I am able to use all my attack skills once i get enough TP from being hit, but I dont auto attack. I move around, I get closer I move back I swing to the back of the mob.

It dosnt auto attack, in combat, with the arrows standing ontop of the mob in active mode, using a spear or a sword... I just stand there. Im gonna upload a Fraps video and show what I get

wow syn.. that worked, if I stop and start combat 2 or 3 times it kicks in! I cant tell you how broken that makes combat... this game suck more every day

Well, it is still in development. People seems to be forgetting that. :/ I've noticed the AA is a little broken too, but that doesn't mean I bash the entire game for it. I still very much enjoy FFXIV and anticipate future patches ^.^

I don't know if this will be helpful but I don't auto attack a mob unless I:
1. Target mob
2. Walk up to mob
3. Active mode
4. Press the enter/confirm button while targeting mob in active mode and being in range. If I don't I stand there not hitting anything >.<
The action bar kinda lights up a sec and it starts auto-attacking after i press the enter button.

Do you press anything else or just walk up to the mob with weapons out and it targeted? Sorry if you already knew this. ^^; Just wanted to help. I hope you can get it to work.
