Recruit-a-friend Oversight

Not entirely related to this thread but I think the bigger oversight is the fact that you can "recruit" accounts that already exist.
I recruited an account that was created 2.5 years ago and got my chocobo. Makes perfect sense.

?? How? I didn't think the code worked on existing accounts. Was it an account that had never paid a subscription fee?

Sorry man, I've played on MMOs for a long, long time, and this entire excuse is just that: an excuse. It doesn't fly. To offer a recruitment path but make it impossible for a decent portion of the playerbase to use it is just ignorance and bad/poorly thought out design.

I lost all my friends grinding day and night for 1% drops from primals and not winning them, doing dailies and dungeons for vanity gear and not getting them and hunts with people who pull early and not getting full credit. SE has removed any social life that I previously had and replaced it with a 24/7, $14 a month lifestyle that forces me to play into oblivion for gear that will be outdated 3 months at a time.

It sucks that your friend can't get on but these limitations are a necessary evil. Some servers are just too crowded.

It's basic mathematics, the limitation is there for a reason.


If a server has a 'safe' capacity of; 5,000 concurrent player connections at once to run optimally, adding another 500 "Because I want to play with my friends Yoshi!" will lead us down the garden path of the Alpha/Beta where the servers lagged and skipped to the point where it was virtually unplayable.

Never again.

The problem is, why isn't there a free transfer system to be able to transfer characters to less populated servers ? ( with a FC/house tranferring too ) to make these servers less populated.
