Recuit a friend question

Hey guys,

I just tried recruiting my friend through the new recruitment page.
He gets the code but there is no option to enter the code anywhere.

It seems like he has to purchase the game first before he is able to enter the code, is this correct?

If so, then it's a really weird of recruiting people.
They should be able to try the game out before actually buying it IMO.

you can enter the code in the Mog Station, which SE account is required. but I think everyone can register an account without FFXIV product key.

There are no tabs under Account Services if you do not have a game key registered.

Sorry to hijack you, but I figured instead creating an additional thread on the same topic I'd just ask here.
Will the recruit a friend code deal work with people upgrading? I have a few buddies who got it on stream so nobody is willing to repurchase somthing they have already. If they upgrade to the collector download for 19.99 will that work?

Likely ever. Youre recruiting a person to play a game, kinda removes the point if theyve already completely started (paying for sub)

I do think it's kind of weird that my friends has to buy the game first and then enter the code.
Isn't the whole purpose of recruiting friends like this is to let them try it out for a few days?

I mean in some way I can understand why they don't do this, main account sending invites and therefor free periods of gametime to bots or something like that.
But I do feel like the free item that my friend will get AFTER they buy the game, does not want make him want to buy/play the game more.

Correct, confirmed.
First buy the game key (digital Download), then in Mogstation there is a Button for register the Code, but...
Many red Alert text tells you that he must register the Code from a friend before time is up... (I think it was the 30 day trial)

EDIT2: If anyone has a friend with an inactive sub, have them log into MogStation and see if they have an enter friend code option under account services. It might be that you can still recruit a friend who hasn't previous paid for service and has an inactive sub (meaning they let their free 30 day lapse and hasn't played since).
