Suddenly can't catch HQ Silver Sovereign?

I don't know wth is going on, but I caught my 10 for the hat before the patch, and then another 10. Now, ever since then, all I can catch are NQs!!!! I've pulled up over 20+ NQ Silver Sovereigns and no HQs! D: Halp!!!

I caught one last night, which brings my grand total up to two! So, yeah they're in there, just being ornery I guess! Oh and if you didn't know, if you fish during the night time hours you eliminate the mahi bites but you probably already know that. I also use HQ Spinach Quiche, can't remember total stats maybe 359 gathering and 266 perception?

I caught two this morning during the nighttime hours in-game. Only thing I can recommend is using some food to boost your perception and hope for the best. They seem to come in spurts. I can go hours and only catch NQs and then catch 2 HQs in a row.

Yeah, I do all of the above. It's just strange how I caught 20 of the HQs, now all of a sudden, all I can pull in are NQs. :/ It's like I'm bugged. xD

Fishing is the worst of the gathering jobs, have no GP moves like miner or botanist and pretty much 100% rng unlike the others that have their GP moves that raise chance of HQ.

I randomly let 3 go when I went fishing earlier... annoying when I have 8HQ so far! Have no idea why either. Let 3 go and caught 1 NQ. Sucks

15 NQ and 1 HQ here. 320 Gathering 289 Perception.

Agree 100%. Loved fishing in FFXI and used to go back and resub just to fish.

Fishing is without doubt in my mind the poorest, the least fun and the least rewarded system in FFXIV.

Once u have enough gathering just get a lot of HQ jack o laterns as they give only a perception boost, which is higher than most high crafted/ expensive food.
Really cheap to buy and make.
Caught like 4 hq in a few hours, but i desynthd them cuz i was hungry for exp lolllll....

No such thing as too much gathering for any 2* green fish, especially without an artisan/supra rod.

For the record HQ Jack o Lanterns are +7 Perception, HQ Landtrap Salad are + 19 Perception. You can get the Blue Landtrap leaf off the Goblin vendor so it's easy to source all of the ingredients.
