So basically what I want is to have a sound effect, using <se.#> when it tells me the message that I have a bite. NOT when I use the ability to reel it in. When it actually tells me i have one. Is this possible and how?

Nope. Macros function when you initiate them. Not when something other than your input triggers them.
10 posts per page is only the default setting; it is bad, and you should feel bad if you haven't changed it.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Sad to hear that but no problem :P
The thing like in real fishing you have to look: your fishing rod. You need to watch when it starts to bend, sometimes will be faint, but still there.
Now, they added a light to it (in your action bar), so it has never been easier to track.
Happy Fishing ^^ (Titanic Sawfish, Y u no love me? T_T )
As Bixby said, macros won't help you with that. You will have to listen for the small crank sound when something bites or turn on the glowball for the tip of your fishing rod. If you have a PS controller, it will vibrate and you can use that.
I am assuming you want this due to crowded fishing spots and not for nefarious purposes. There is a sound option to adjust non-party member sound effects you might want to look into. I turned it off so I did not have to deal with in town spammers, added bonus is it also "mutes" the other fishers around you, so you only hear the sou d effects of your hooks.
