    Low Level Dungeons: Speedrunning is not cool with lowbies in the party.

    I like the idea of a speed run or two to get through things faster, but doing this at the cost of the low level player's EXP seems a bit dickish. It seems to becoming more and more of an issue. While there are other options for them to level such as FATEs and Levequests. Just bolting through two rooms full of mobs at the equivalent of about 2-3k EXP in Cutter's Cry for example, forcing them to miss out on that opportunity to gain a pretty big amount of progression in their level is not cool.

    This came about while I was healing a low level roulette and the tank was being a stuck up bastard about everything.

    I never do this, when i que as a tank. Ive leveled all my jobs to at least 30, and i know how bad it sucks to wait in a que for 20+minutes as a dps only to have the tank pass up thousands of xp. I inspect people when I enter and announce straight out that im not passing anything up, if i see a person is either new, or clad in 50gear. That upstairs room in haukke manor always has an accessory that someone can use...

    I agree. When I do tank, the only time I skip a bunch of stuff (legitimate stuff, not crappy crafting materials like in Stone Vigil) is when the party is full of synced level 50's that are obviously just in there for roulette/Animus.

    I am going to play devils advocate on this because while I agree to some extent it actually becomes less trivial. Cutter's Cry was used as they example and I know which two rooms you are referring to as they have 1 group and two cactuars in the first room and two groups and a cactaur in the 2nd room. This of course depends if you go right or left. I have seen one group in my history of ffxiv that actually cleared the entire room. So 2-3k exp which would be first room 12500 (I split the difference) and 2nd room 17500. With experience at 286,200 as an entry level character in Cutter's it would equate to about 10% of their level for those two rooms. Plus in all reality the experience is closer to 1200 per creature. So the experience gained is far less that actually perceived by the original topic. Dungeon experience is far better at lower levels and falls off after Brayflox until you get to

    Leveling a Tank I found others way to level, as a healer I did the same, as a dps. It is way faster to queue up for a dungeon go grind fates (you will gain almost a level while you wait) and then run through. Also fate grinding has a higher experience yield than dungeon grinding. All I have left is archer so I can speak to this from experience. This is actually less trivial than this thread makes it out to be.

    That's not the point. The point is that dungeons from 1-49 are for leveling and gearing, unless you get a fresh party member that actually needs it for quest progression, so choosing to pass up mobs, especially without asking the party their preference beforehand, is disappointing particularly for ranged dps that have long queue times.

    I think main point here is that there are generally 2 different motivations for people to run this type of dungeon:
    - Player A leveling up the class they are on.
    - Player B of higher level running it for the roulette bonus.

    Player A probably wants to kill everything and get the chests. Player B just wants to get to the end. I'd regard both as equally "legitimate" and worth respecting. Player A is who it was mostly designed for -- Player B is helping out the less advanced ones. Without Player B you'd probably still be in queue waiting for more people to join group.

    Maybe talk about it among the group: The B-type players might be willing to take a bit more time and do the A-type activities if asked. Or they might not. That's their right. Probably just count on getting random mix of both types when you do sub-50 DF dungeons.

    Then speak up, ask for Full Clear. I frequently ask the question, "Quick or Full clear"? I get 2 responses for Quick normally, from the other max chars that are only there for the tombs. When I get crickets for the answer, Quick is what gets done.

    Aye, I do not typically have this problem as I am vocal if I need something. The situation described by the op was that the tank decided the speed of the run and was a jerk.

    At the start of every low-level DF run, I usually break the ice by greeting everyone in /p chat, then stating, "I'd vote for a full clear for the XP, but I'm willing to go with whatever the party wants." Most of the time, this will prompt others to speak up their own votes for the full clear, and that's what we do. The occasional times that someone objects, I don't make a hassle out of it; we still have fun, and I still get a decent amount of XP for the run.

    And when I run my daily for myth as a tank, it's my privilege and joy to give low-level players an awesome run full of XP. The extra few minutes I spend fighting additional groups and clearing optional rooms are some of the happiest moments I get each time I login.

    While I'm not a tank, whenever I did low level dungeons through roulette or animus books, I always explained the mechanics to any new players to the dungeon. Players who are happy to play with you and are willing to listen will make the runs go by much faster than you forcing them to brute force the place and then you get pissed at them when they don't live up to your expectations.
