The problem with hunts isn't that they drop easy to get i110 gear. 2.3 is a catch up patch, not a progression one, so an easy method of getting i110 should be available to players who aren't content wizards so they can try and progress in second coil and mog/levi/ramuh who weren't able to do it before. It also serves as a way for hardcore players to gear up their alts. Only people who have a problem with people easily getting i110 are 1)actual no joke elitists who feel it's some kind of sacred treasure and 2) people who don't understand how this game's patch progression works. Everyone doing hunts is fundamentally no different from everyone spamming wp/mythflox to the same end as it did...what. Heavily populated two endgame instances and little else? (this being a problem of it's own btw, but "people flocking to what levels them up the fastest with the least effort" is nothing new.)
The ACTUAL problem here is with players who go "well, i can get everything from hunts, so why do anything else?" which is just silly. I'm not really a fan of (many) of coil's hop skip jump memorization perfection only simon says mario party mechanics, but at the very least, it takes learning and effort and as such drops feel like a reward and something to be proud of, overcoming the biggest stacked against player BS SE could come up with to stop player progression. When you actually earn these things, it feels good. And it's not a bad idea at all to do some hunts to make yourself more prepared to deal with these difficult mechanics. When you let your game experience revolve around handout gear from hunts, which are about as big an accomplishment as being able to add two and two...
If you're actually going into hunts with the mindset of everything else is pointless, then why even play the game? You're earning gear to literally do nothing with if you feel the rest of the game is pointless, ****ing up hunts for people actually trying to use them to gear up, and just ruining the entire thing for everyone. That is the bigger problem here. The only reason hunts are a problem is because seemingly the playerbase is literally unable to moderate themselves and many don't actually have a desire to progress beyond handout gear.
