Actually I quite like the way the game is right now. Maybe you should move on?Yep. In a perfect world, we'd all do the fight 1000's of times daily just because they're so much fun.
Wake up. The OP complained about party finder being dead. Even if we all extremely enjoyed every primal fight and no one was ever interested in drops, party finder would still be empty. In order to get people to REPEATEDLY do these fights, there has to be more incentive other than "well you should just enjoy the fight."
This is 2014. The great chase for pixels has been around since MMO's began years ago. You should know this by now. And if you can't accept that the reason people do things is ALSO for drops, then its time to move on to something else.
Why should I move on? I quite like the game too. I was just replying to your "you should do the fight cause you love it" comment. I do participate in the content I enjoy. I was explaining why you aren't going to see people doing old content without some sort of incentive. Which has basically been the case in every mmo ever.
A lot of us are players from XI where there were numerous ways to get equivalent gear for many years and, until relatively recently, old content was still popular. So, we don't take it as some kind of truism that old content must get outdated and unpopular. Why should I move on? I quite like the game too. That was a game that relied on this kind of open-world, group and community-oriented content. Which is why some of us like it.
My original in-game surname was "Alexander" because I played FFXI on the alexander server from NA release until 2008. Very familiar with old content. Very familiar with horizontal progression. The difference is, in FFXIV - a game with vertical progression, is that old content becomes outdated very quickly. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Its not some kind of truism. It just is what it is.A lot of us are players from XI where there were numerous ways to get equivalent gear for many years and, until relatively recently, old content was still popular. But you said every MMO ever. Not every vertical progression MMO. And my issue is that not all MMOs are vertical progression. Heck, FFXIV has spent more time with horizontal progression than vertical. My original in-game surname was "Alexander" because I played FFXI on the alexander server from NA release until 2008. There was nothing equivalent for a lot of pieces of gear for years.
