Are Hunts Ruining Final Fantasy XIV?

This is like a serious question. I'm on Adamantoise, I've seen people lose their minds if they don't get a hunt & someone pulls & kills it. People go as far as to Blacklist, name shame or say things like, "I'll trace that guys IP address & I'll make him wish he was sorry."

So my question is, are the Hunts ruining your experience with the game? To me it seems like Hunts are all people do now because the rewards vastly outweigh everything else.

    Thoughts?

I've mostly just ignored hunts to save myself having to deal with the people.

I think it's the more hardcore endgame raid people that are going after allied seals for the sands of time that are taking it too seriously. I bet the problem would be solved if oil/sands of time was removed from the rewards.

I am hoping it will eventually calm down but as it stands now, getting people to do the Second Binding Coil is like pulling teeth. I am worried that with the hunts, they may have inadvertently killed raiding. The rewards from hunts are good enough for most people it seems and the rewards from raiding are not strong enough to lure them back.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're ruining the game. But they're definitely a step in the wrong direction.

It's a good idea that was poorly executed. It can still be salvaged, but it needs to be done quickly. And there needs to be swift action taken against the increased number of cheaters.

    This might help hunts

    1. Give marks b-a-s triple hp.
    2. Give marks b-a-s double def.
    3. Give all marks near adds in the open world to come help them fight that would even out the playing field a bit as its a lot of us.
    4. Make 'S' class marks spawn time 1hr apart.
    5. Make 'A' class marks spawn time 40minutes apart.
    6. Make 'B' class marks spawn time 30minutes part.
    7. Give regular marks double hp def to make them more of a challenge to beat then what they are now.

    Reward adjustments as followed:
    S rank='s 20 allied marks.. 15 soldiery
    A rank='s 15 allied marks.. 10 soldiery
    B rank='s 10 allied marks.. 5 soldiery
    Daily rank's:
    In fates='s 5 allied marks.. 2 soldiery
Open world marks='s 3 allied marks.. 1 soldiery.

Now keep In mind that this is may sit well with all but, it would be better then what we currently have, so before you flame this.. Think about it.. And if you like this.. Mark like but if you dont then thank you for even reading this

That's an awfully extreme take on the situation. Hunts are one type of content - and despite the seeming hordes of people doing them, not even the most popular. Dungeons are still thriving, there is a perfectly healthy raid community, and PvP is being discovered by many - myself included. Hunts may end up being an evolutionary dead end, or maybe they will lead to something better, but they aren't even close to impacting the overall quality of FFXIV. I myself have had a great time stumbling upon the occasional B rank NM and taking them down.

If you like this type of content, then by all means, send some helpful feedback on the this sub-forum. If it's not your cup of tea, enjoy the myriad of other content available. The health of the community is in part what you make of it. FFXIV has plenty of strong foundation to support a few experimental projects like Hunts.

Yes. The drama surrounding the hunts is really hurting the game for me. I don't even want to log in outside of coil now.

Well realistically you could grind Hunts for Allied Seals & then buy Sands/Oils & make your Soldiery gear into iLV110, the same as High Allagan. Some people are doing Hunt farming so much ( not to mention I've heard of apps being used to track them ) that they can get iLV110 full sets in a matter of days instead of waiting 1 week per Second Coil drop now. I think they need to remove the Sands/Oils from the rewards. Or give Allied Seals a weekly cap. Another idea would be to give different people different weekly monster hunts.

So an entire server isn't screaming, "NAUL pls" & were all in different zones killing different stuff.

Unfortunately if the game mechanics are designed to be manipulated & farmed, it's gonna happen. It's an MMO yo.
