Brayflox Hard tank question

This has been bugging me for some time: Just before the first boss (Illuminati Commander) people tend to open the door and get inside. Why are they doing it and what is the Tank meant to do? Also go inside or stay outside?

Personally I prefer to just defeat all enemies before opening the door and going in for the boss fight but maybe I'm missing something?

They want you to cross the purple line and tank the "trash" so that they're outside so when the barrier goes up the mobs reset. The dps will bring the boss to you so that you don't have to move... They're trying to save 20 seconds for no real benefit

You can enter the first boss and leave the two last mobs outside without killing them. Stay very near the entrance so that they don't enter the boss room, get aggro from the boss without moving, and when the room is sealed the two mobs go away. You save time. This trick can also be done in Wanderer's Palace.

Yea, it is a lockout tactic. They open the door, you run to just over the purple line. DPS pulls boss, you voke it and start in on it. Once the purple wall goes up move away from it if you like, the mobs reset and go back to their spots. Like said earlier, shaves off a few secs. If you are doing the full Speed Run strat though, that is how you do the first boss.

Some time ago the quickest way to obtain the myth tomes for the Animus books was Brayflox HM grind. Myth tomes were much harder to get than they are now and it took days to farm the tomes for one book.

Party Finder had many Brayflox SR two first bosses parties, and people talked about how many minutes the run will take, etc. Melée DPS weren't desired in SR parties, a tank who didn't do a one-pull-only in first boss was rejected, etc. The best geared and practiced players were there. (No UAT weapons available, practically, animus was the option most took.) This players did lots of SR so a few minutes saved in each run might mean an hour or more a day.

And the forums were full of complaints about Speed Runs in Brayflox HM too. ;-) They changed the rewards, new ways to obtain myth tomes have appeared and there are no more runs like that.

Longer time ago it was Wanderer's Palace the place to farm and the best geared and practiced players were there farming myth tomes and trying to go as fast as possible.

I never did those extreme speed runs, but when I'm doing Brayflox Hard I'm still doing the lockout tactic just because I'm used to it. And because it's ... possible? ;D
