This thread brings up some good questions. I never knew Urianger was an Arcanist. For that matter I don't remember seeing his carbuncle ever. o.O Where'd you see it?

And if the twins are Scholars, I wonder if they have specially designed fairies. And what is Minfillia exactly? We've yet to see her be anything other than helpless.

when the group is captured by the garleans you can choose to untie (i think two of them?) if you choose him he'll summon his carbuncle and help you fight

I completely forgot about that (probably because I failed that fight a couple of times due to not untying him).

As for the twins, despite me naming it as a possibility I somewhat doubt they are scholar too.
The main reason for this is the lore. In both the SMN and SCH quest lines you are working on reviving a lost art. Most other job have someone teaching you their art, but SMN and SCH have you grasping at theories and you happen to get good results. Not to mention that in the SCH quest line it actually seems like the fairy is helping you learn new things.

Now considering who their grandfather was it is of course entirely possible that they were raised with knowledge that the rest of Eorzea doesn't have (I'm sure the circle of knowing knows lots of interesting stuff), and they indeed could be SMN or SCH, but with the lore in mind I do expect them to be arcanists in the end.
