    Ability progression

    This game doesn't need more gear sets with different stats for horizontal progression it already has min/max options with crafted gear, coils and tokens. What this game really needs is ability progression since its an important rpg element. The developers should add end game job story quests that allow players to complete different objectives and augment existing abilities it's called an mmorpg for a reason and ability progression is the second most important rpg element in mmorpg's besides gear.

    Perhaps something like XI's merits might work? I mean, pvp skills have points you can put into them so I don't see why they couldn't work around that for other skills. Obviously when you're at cap (this one or the next). It'd be something nice for all that wasted exp bonus most people have for maxing everything, of course, not using said exp already, but switching to a "merit" where you get those at 50 instead, but requiring quite an immense amount, mostly to counter people getting 10-20 off a single dungeon or holy spamming a group of mobs. Make them work for it, no more handing stuff to people.

    Sadly, I don't see this happening :/ Unless it's something like "increase potency" "lower's recast", because SE is apparently avoiding "complex stats" like the plague here lol What's so complex about "PDT-%" or something?

    It just sounds like you want something new to use right away. Abilities aren't going to be expanded upon until we get a level cap boost where the new content is made with the new abilities in mind.

    You aren't going to see something like this until after the level cap increase. FFXI had merits but only after the level cap was raised and set statically at 75. They'll bump the cap with the expansion and if that will be the cap for a while THEN you may see something like this happen. Level 50 is already going to be an annoying plateau for people on the way to the new level cap without some kind of merit system as well. Plus this can also breed a "you don't have x ability or have y ability enhanced? *kick*" situation that was not uncommon in FFXI.
