Name change?

Back when I used to play XBOX Live, people often said, "Report my name so I can change it for free!" And if that person did get enough complaints about their name, Xbox would tell the user to change their name.

Do you think that would work here?
If many people were to report someone because of their name, do you think SE will tell them to change their character name?
Or would SE ban the player?

theres a player on jenova called "pig fuqqer", i dont think people care too much about names, or SE doesnt care what you decide to name your character enough to let you change the name

On FFXI when I moved to a new server I changed my name to Phuku and had a GM asking me to logoff and change it on my first day on that new server haha People are so sensitive to humor.

There was also a person named Ramrodicus Maximus on Balmung. Don't know if he still plays or if his name got changed though. Kind of a funny name though. I don't think all that many people really cared.

A while back I ran into somebody with the name "Loli Gagger". I usually don't give a shit about silly names, but finding this one deeply inappropriate, I sent in a report. A GM contacted me within 30 minutes to thank me for bringing the name to their attention, and informed me that the name would be changed. He said they would talk with the owner, and would change the name to something appropriate that they requested. If the account owner didn't respond or didn't want the name changed, they would forcefully change it for him.

So yeah, I think it would work, however the name in question would probably need to be a name that warrants a change in the first place. I assume SE only cares if they know other people care, at which point they take action against it. I seriously doubt a "normal" name that isn't insulting or inappropriate at all would get a response out of SE though, even if it was reported several times.

Someone reported my name shitfaced punk and I was brought to a dungeon in the game. I was there for 5 mins and the GM appeared like a ghostly figure. I got a warning and was made to change my name.

It's too bad your name wasn't "Thecrying Game". I hear that could've gotten changed pretty easily.
