I am sure this- like Blizzard's promos will be used by marketing to promote "accounts created" subscription figures, rather than active accounts. (Blizzard even counts banned accounts in their figures)

It's fine, I don't blame them. They are pulling quite a few moves from Blizzard's playbook, big numbers are nice to report (whether they are misleading or not)... and can actually lead to more players playing, because they think a lot of others are playing.

I hope it works. Why should Blizzard be the only one using these marketing tricks? Maybe once they get the numbers they want, we will see more marketing efforts and some exciting new commercials.
