Monk in Fists of Earth, with several cross-classed defensive cooldowns, and a Chocobo with Choco-Cure (at least!) in Healer stance, and you can solo just about every single B-Rank mark there is. Summoners have it even easier, since they get TWO pets, and of them is actually tanky!
On topic, I think this suggestion is a double-edged sword. It'd help a lot with people like myself, who aren't able to get full credit on the higher rank marks either because they can't even see them, or they die too fast to do so, but it also, as has been pointed out, encourages laziness.
I, personally, believe that A and S-Rank (and possibly B-rank as well) marks should've been similar to Treasure Maps. You either buy or find a special item that you take to a certain location to force the mob to spawn, and only you and your party members can attack it. This prevents the zerg problem, and allows players to basically pick their own difficulty for the mark by deciding how many people to bring with them. I'm still holding out hope that SE will change hunts to be like this...
Edit: Another, and arguably MUCH easier to implement fix, is two-fold: First, remove Bloody Hunting Logs from all Elite Marks' drop pools, and second, cap the number of Allied Seals you can get in a week to just enough to purchase two logs. After all, you can get a bunch of items that are otherwise weekly-capped in other content, so why should it be any different for Allied Seals?
