Must HAve Acctive Account to Play FFXIV?

Attempted to log in this morning. Entered information, used secure key and got the message: You must have an active account to play FFXIV Reborn. lol What?

SO I go to SE Mog Station and it says I have no active subscription. I have to re enter all the same information and then get re billed for the last day in July and then I can log into the game. Everyone is asking was there a maintenance because the server is empty. I wonder how many people will say well, Maybe this is SE's way of saying I shouldn't play this game. Its a dumb mistake, shouldn't have happened. I am not overly burdened by the double billing for one day. I am irritated that this happened and if I didn't play every day I would never have known. On the business side, they are going to lose a ton of revenue on people that auto subscribed and stopped playing until 2.4 just because their billing system decided to forget everyone's billing information.

i wont have to worry about that for a few months, i got the 180 day sub. when i went on the other day, i did update payment info, so i should still be good

First time I hear about this... And I've been playing for a few hours right now. And yesterday... and pretty much every day since many months back...

You will not be double billed. Next month ( if set to automatic billing) your account will be paid for on the same day.

I have been playing since the release. My account was set to auto billing on my CC. Nothing changed. They just derped my account and I had to re register it. Most of our server is empty today. Yesterday it was packed with all the kids home from school.
