That page doesn't address any of my questions. It simply says "When your friend receives your message with the enclosed recruitment code, have them create a Square Enix account if they have yet to do so, then register the recruitment code via the Mog Station."
I've created the account and there was nowhere to use the recruit code on my mog station so I downloaded the trial. Under the 'your account' tab on the mog station it shows my trial account, but where it says "the following options are available for this account" the only button is "transfer to regular service" which takes me to purchase the game. My question is if this is an error, has anyone out there used a recruit code while on a trail, or do I need to actually purchase the game before I can use the code?

I think so, once I went from trial to the purchased game I was able to see the recruitment stuff. Then when you setup your subscription is when you can put in the recruitment code. Mine is available if needed, HWJ2UZHD

yes, i belive you need to buy the game to use the friend recruitment code. the trial account will not give full access to everything.
