Well the game does have mounts and minions, that's about as close to WoW as this game has gotten. but there is a difference between "experience" and an actual clone.

Hence: "clone" and not clone. Also if that's the only thing you noticed..I'm guessing you never played WoW...or tried Summoner (XIV.) WoW to this date remains one of the few popular MMORPGs that even utilizes a GCD system and has no console version, just a thought on that as well comparative to the 1.2x battle system which was closer to what you'd expect from a FF MMORPG, a mix of 'active' and 'moderate pace.'

Actually, they said just recently once 1.2x was out subs tripled, even in the Pay to Play period, so 1.0 was a failure, 1.x wasn't - It's why some of the original story of 1.x still exists even though most of the other stories take place "after the fact" and as if you've never set foot into eorzea before.

maybe that one guys opinion or suggestion got ignored but they went with the majority.

And what do most people want? A WoW "clone" - Hence why they wanted to do it, especially since Japan largely doesn't have those style MMOs or even an official WoW version. Yoshi working with Blizzard even in terms of 'talks' isn't a coincidence since plenty of other companies out there has successful MMORPGs.

I did but it's not a clone aside from those things, everyone was saying FFXI was a clone of WoW also PSO2j pretty much most MMOS that came out after was pretty much a clone, you see where im going with this? long story short, it's not a clone, and i'll never understand why people keep calling it a clone. just because of a few similar elements that you can find in most MMOs or rpgs.

Hell in fact i'll go again and toss another "clone" at you, in PSO2 they have "retainers" or rather comrads you can send out to gather items, they get exp and level up like you do, you send them to do quests for items to bring back to you, they also refer to you as any servant does. does this seem very familar to a recent update? so with that i can call FFXIV a PSO2 clone now.

and also do you realize how long ago that movie was? i even forgot about it entirely untill you mentioned it.

First, FFXI came out 'before' WoW so nobody was saying it was a WoW clone. Second, this game is WAY more similar to WoW than any other mmo I have ever played (and I have played a lot). Third, Yoshi P has been VERY clear that this game was designed according to WoW in almost all of its major systems and has cited on numerous occasions that it was his inspiration for the changes. When even the devs are telling you the game is meant to copy WoW and you're still refusing to accept that, you're in denial.

it's not denial, it's just not there, if they did try, i'm not seeing it. Maybe its just that FFXIV is just a better game then an 10+ year old MMO that i am not seeing it. they got inspiration from other MMOS as well as i clearly stated a similarity from another MMO and there are others. All games come from inspiration of another. but i'm sorry, it's not a clone. but we can go around this all day.

And regardless of what came out 1st i simply told you that people are calling those 2 games clones. But you seemed to missed that point again. so we'll just leave that alone.

Bottom line you're free to like 1.x all you like and think it's superior all you like. but it won't change what has already happend.
