Funny, i don't seem to recall players specifically asking for open world NMs to be added in the absolute worst way possible with a rewards system that essentially invalidates almost all other content in the game.

Open world - check
Not FATE - check
Notorious Monsters - check
Valueable rewards - check
Uncapped - check
Grindable - check
Exclusive claim - not check

As for expensive vanity, blame that on crafters whining that crafting was pointless with nothing crafted being valuable.

In short, be careful what you ask for.
