Settings won't stay after the game is closed?

I've been trying to keep the settings low on a standard desktop since it isn't powerful enough to run the game any other way but the graphics options won't stay the way I set them. I have to change everything each time I start the game up and it's pretty annoying... is there any way to make it so they save?

Your settings should be saved to your (My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn) folder. First check if for some reason that the files in the folder haven't been set to "read only" to start. I mention this because ive had many occasions where settings folders got locked so it could never re-write to the files to save them.
