Which was caused by the lack of in-game notice that certain stats were disabled, because the Morale tooltip is entirely misleading seeing as it's disabled in FL. That's the issue that needs resolving.
So basically this game is exactly like pretty much all other games when it comes to PvP: TANKS ARE POINTLESS. Our defense is 'nullified,' we can't use actions that boost defense, we can't use abilities that affect aggro, and our DPS is piss-poor. So we might as well just play a DPS or a Healer.
I've never understood why tanks can't use aggro-stealing abilities in PvP. I always hear non-tank players complain about having 'control taken away from them,' but it's no different than confusion/sleep/paralyze/petrify. People don't like effects that prevent them from attacking when mobs use them, but they don't scream and yell and demand that they're removed from the game. Why the heck can't we tanks have the ability to temporarily force a target change? How is that unfair? Afraid it will be spammed? Give it a diminishing return effect, like the Blind effect on Flash or Stun.
Seriously, this is my one big beef with PvP: Tanks are always useless. Most games allow players to clip through one another, so we can't stand in the way and prevent our healers/ranged dps from being attacked, and we can't use our aggro skills so we can't pull attackers off of them. We're flat-out ignored in Wolves' Den, usually slept and left until last, and we can't do crap in Frontlines. You should just remove the ability for tanks to queue for PvP. Instead, give that slot to another DPS. Queues will move much faster then.

1. Damage reduction abilities are still usefull. Sentinel and rampart still improve your damage reduction... and foresight sucked already anyways.
2. Stop being like our eastern friends and keep thinking on the 'traditional' side of roles. Your new job is to intercept, either give DPS a hard time doing their job or expose your healers to DPS through bind/stunlock/full swing.
3. Flash gives off blind, most twinks forego accuracy in trade of more DPS stats, so their accuracy is already borederline piss-poor.
4. Cover forces physical DPS to target you. You can bulwark this to throw shield swipe at them back to further stop their DPS.
There, four points to why a tank is usefull. Get at me.
Protect works as intended, Stoneskin is better in PVP though and the WHM should have SS'd you.
I disagree because I have seen PLDs do a substantial amount of dps in both Frontlines and Wolves Den. I told my friend I always roll with in pvp with who plays a PLD that hey, SE was increasing PLD damage for pvp, he laughed so hard and asked why? because he doesn't think it needs to be increased. he thinks its fine the way it is. well the answer to why SE is doing it, is because they are once again, catering to players who don't know how to play their class and players who are too lazy or too clueless to even try to figure it out. so they increase the damage for everyone so they won't have to figure it out. again, fostering and nurturing a playerbase of bad playing. and yet another case of rather than turning the light bulb to change it, SE chose to spin the whole house. So basically this game is exactly like pretty much all other games when it comes to PvP: TANKS ARE POINTLESS. ... My friend I always roll with is a PLD and i've seen him pull off anywhere between 40k-60k dps in Frontlines, even has a high amount of kills sometimes when they aren't being stolen from him, and nearly always tops damage or is not far from dps damage in Wolves Den. I also know many other good tanks, who do damage like a dps. The problem is once again, most tanks don't know how to play. when i inspect tanks in Frontlines and Wolves Den i just smdh because they are geared completely wrong stacking vitality. in fact, i just tell them to respec to something else because if you are a tank and gearing up in vitality, you're doing it all so wrong. you're dead weight to your team.
and as far as tanks being pointless, i disagree with that as well. tanks can ninja bases. all i do with my friend is ninja bases and hold it down until we get overrun and then we book it which grabs our team a few more points and has even won games at the last second. only thing about this is you may have to have a healer with you so you need to either premade with one or get a healer to come with you.
If your damage is sucking, research your class, find out what gear is optimal, find out what tactics you can use to do the most damage to your target. because if you find yourself getting kited all the time, then you are doing what most other bad tanks do, opening up with a stun and thus diminishing returning out a stun that should have been saved when your target is low on hp to kill it.

No need for that. Determining whether an ability is affected is stupid easy. Here's a flowchart for you:
Read the ability text to find out what it does.
Does the ability increase my or an ally's Defense Stat and does nothing else? (Yes) -> It's useless. Drop it!
(No)
Does the ability increase my or an ally's Magic Defense stat and does nothing else? (Yes) -> it's useless. Drop it!
(No)
Does the ability decrease an enemy's Defense Stat and does nothing else? (Yes) -> It's useless. Drop it!
(No)
Does the ability decrease an enemy's Magic Defense stat and does nothing else? (Yes) -> It's useless. Drop it!
(No)
It may be useful! Use as needed!
idk, man, one of the first things I noticed my first day in wolves den was "oh hey, that protect animation that happens when you get hit by things protect helps against isn't going off, maybe it doesn't help here".
In wolves den defense is changed to morale. And protect doesnt give any morale so it doesnt work there. I havr never played in the front lines but since they chose to remove morale (which is so stupid imo, was so upset cause i had grinded pvp for months to get the pvp gear go get ready for frontlines) I assume protect should work there
Read the post from the SE rep, your statement is inaccurate. Whether or not you're in a wolves den level that uses morale or not, defense was removed as a factor from all pvp. Why is this thread still going? In wolves den defense is changed to morale. And protect doesnt give any morale so it doesnt work there. I havr never played in the front lines but since they chose to remove morale (which is so stupid imo, was so upset cause i had grinded pvp for months to get the pvp gear go get ready for frontlines) I assume protect should work there
