    Hmmmm... he is correct:

    モラル•ウルヴズジェイルで獲得できる装備品、およびPvP向けの装備品には、対戦バトルコンテンツ用のパラメータ「モラル(※)」が付与されています。
    •※モラルは、レベル50の対戦バトルコンテンツでのみ効果を発揮し、対戦バトルコンテンツにおいて、物理防御力と魔法防御力の代わりに 他のプレイヤーから受けるダメージ量に影響を与えます。加えて他のプレイヤーに与えるダメージ量にも影響を与えます。
JP site is saying exactly the same:

    http://ff14wiki.info/?%E3%82%A6%E3%8...82%A4%E3%83%AB

This is also probalby why they have to take out Morale. It would put a lot of actions to useless.

If it's true that the Defense stats don't function in FL, then PLD really do have mega-burst damage.

Because there isn't a single Melee around (that I've met on the field) that can take out my (Sword Oath - full STR accessories) PLD 1v1 in FL when we both have full CDs, unless they LB.

They seem to take so much more damage than I do. Are we certain that the defenses don't function in at least FL?

It would be such a pain to try to actually conduct a test for this in a way where there's no uncontrolled variables skewing the data...

"Morale is an attribute that affects the amount of damage you take from enemy players and the amount of damage you deal to enemy players in PvP. The attribute only comes into play in level 50 PvP matches, where it replaces Defense and Magic Defense in influencing the damage you receive."
I'm not sure if you meant it this way, or if you were just proving that about WD, but I don't believe this means it also replaces the Defenses in FL. What makes me doubt it is that this description was written before FL was released, or even announced with any sort of detail beyond the name and that it'd be a form of PvP. It may or may not be true that Defenses do nothing in FL, but I don't think we can safely try to use this quote as evidence.

JP is also able to confirm that defense value has no effect in Frontline as well. This is really a slap on the face to all Paladins. It is kind explain why Immortal Flame usually losing as they tend to have more Paladins because of the gladiator guild.

It is confirmed. There is an ongoing discussion in JP PvP fourm atm. Any defense increase related actions are useless.

    物理防御力と魔法防御力の代わりに

This phase means it replaced both physical defense and magicial defnese (by morale).

First I'll join in on this thread regarding Protect in Wolves' Den only. From the game client, open your character sheet and click on the Resistances tab. Now go to the bottom of the page and hover your mouse over Morale. Here is what it says:

"In PvP, replaces physical and magical defense in determining damage inflicted by other players."

Now, maybe the tool tip is wrong. I mean, it has been before. But my experience and testing say otherwise. A really easy way to test this in Wolves' Den is to use Foresight (Increases defences by 20%) and see that it does absolutely nothing to reduce the amount of damage you take. I have not tested it specifically in Frontline but I've not noticed hitting tanks for lower numbers unless they have a flat resist increase from something like Vengeance or Rampart.

Yet PVP gear is littered with it.
Now to this. The next section of the tooltip says:

"Also influences the amount of damage delt to other players."

Meaning it is a modifier added into the damage formula. DET still has the exact same effect as it has in PvE.

Does this mean that "Blood for Blood" doesnt increase damage taken by 25% then also?

Whats odd is YoshiP stated looking into raising DRG magic def in the last live letter, so does that mean each class has a flat def/mdef and thats it?

Damage reduction still works, good example is that Paladin can use Sentinel to reduce a 5k damamge Brave under 3k. It has nothing to do with the defense value. In this case, if Blood for Blood is let you receive extra incoming damamge, it is likely that will function as tooltip described.
