Yep, i always protect over the top of my stoneskin just to be sure
Didn't manage to get 8 people to test it, people are lazy today![]()

When it comes to PvP, damage reduction and +% damage is based on Morale. Protect is useless when it comes to taking damage in PvP. It doesn't lower the damage taken at all in PvP since Defense and Magic Defense do not work in PvP. I do the same damage to paladins with sword oath on as I do to everyone else, and they have the most defense and magic defense in the game, this proves the fact that it doesn't work in PvP.
That being said, Protect is still useful in PvP. People have abilities that dispel your buffs, so Protect acts as a blanket for the more important buffs, such as Regen and Galvanize.
where is the resource that says this? because if that's the case that means Eos Fey Covenent doesn't work either. When it comes to PvP, damage reduction and +% damage is based on Morale. Logo, I can't say if determination affects us in PvP at all, as I have not tested that directly, but I can promise you that Defense and Magic Defense do not work in PvP.
This logic would dictate that Det would have no use also, since morale dictates damage dealt. When it comes to PvP, damage reduction and +% damage is based on Morale. Yet PVP gear is littered with it.

First I'll join in on this thread regarding Protect in Wolves' Den only. From the game client, open your character sheet and click on the Resistances tab. Now go to the bottom of the page and hover your mouse over Morale. Here is what it says:
"In PvP, replaces physical and magical defense in determining damage inflicted by other players."
Now, maybe the tool tip is wrong. I mean, it has been before. But my experience and testing say otherwise. A really easy way to test this in Wolves' Den is to use Foresight (Increases defences by 20%) and see that it does absolutely nothing to reduce the amount of damage you take. I have not tested it specifically in Frontline but I've not noticed hitting tanks for lower numbers unless they have a flat resist increase from something like Vengeance or Rampart.
Now to this. The next section of the tooltip says:
"Also influences the amount of damage delt to other players."
Meaning it is a modifier added into the damage formula. DET still has the exact same effect as it has in PvE.
Whats odd is YoshiP stated looking into raising DRG magic def in the last live letter, so does that mean each class has a flat def/mdef and thats it?First I'll join in on this thread regarding Protect in Wolves' Den only. Here is a little explanation of it. While it is not straight from Square Enix, it is written on a wiki...
http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Morale
"Morale is an attribute that affects the amount of damage you take from enemy players and the amount of damage you deal to enemy players in PvP. The attribute only comes into play in level 50 PvP matches, where it replaces Defense and Magic Defense in influencing the damage you receive."
Hmmmm... he is correct:

This is also probalby why they have to take out Morale. It would put a lot of actions to useless.
JP is also able to confirm that defense value has no effect in Frontline as well. This is really a slap on the face to all Paladins. It is kind explain why Immortal Flame usually losing as they tend to have more Paladins because of the gladiator guild.
