I was a paying subscriber from launch, all the way to the closing of 1.0. I didn't play much, but I had an active account. The entire time I played the game, my account was on a 3/mo renewal. The last time the account was renewed was in August, 3 months before the servers shut down.
With the servers being shut down and knowing that I would be playing again on re-launch, I had no thoughts of canceling my account or changing any of my accounts settings. So I left it. Come re-launch, I meet up with all my old friends and they all immediately noticed that their accounts were flagged as 'Legacy' and were all riding on their new Legacy Chocobos. All, save for me. I looked at my service history and noticed that my last subscription date was showing as August, which made sense because I had set up, as I said earlier, a 3-month renewal. However, since my account was not renewed after the shutdown, my account was still flagged at being canceled as of August, one month before the 'Legacy cutoff'.
I contact Customer Support with my problem, I inform them of my research into the issue and the representative agreed! However, he says "It's not that we don't WANT to help you, it's that we can't". He informs me that there is a 'program' that determines qualification for Legacy and there is nothing he can do to change it. I am disappointed, yes, but I accepted his answer and moved on. Now months later, I am in a Hunt group discussing my problem and to my surprise, a member of the group had the SAME ISSUE! He told me all he did was contact Customer Support, as I did, and they resolved the issue and corrected his account status!
Now perhaps I simply got a representative on a bad day? Maybe he had a full workload and didn't want to add on? I'm not sure and frankly, I don't really care. All I can gather from these events is that this problem CAN be corrected and I would like, very much, for it TO BE corrected.
