Well, to be honest i had 0 issues during the whole weekend playing ffxiv so thought they had fixed the issue (be it a server thrown up in EU or some other method) so i renewed. I had no reason to check & why should I have to? its only when things are not right you tend to dig deeper, in my case... things were not right AFTER i paid subs!
Anyway.. motto of this topic is...
If your having con probs with FFXIV & your from EU.. /quit cuz it aint gunna be sorted!
oh by the way eggnook, in response to your post:

so yup they can & do re-route users as when they feel :-)
Yes, that link was enlightening, even pulled a post from it.
SE isn't trying to pull a scam, I'm detecting a bit of solipsism coming from you.
Lol
I'm from EU and have not had any problem except during the huge lag nightmare until October 2013. A few 90k or sluggish connections due to ISP, but nothing on SE's end (and NO, the server lag and crash due to the idiots wave after every patch doesn't count. Stop rushing in the server as soon as it's live, you'll solve the problem.)
I'm now in Japan and it's been 2 month. No problem as well (remember I'm a EU player, servers are in Montreal), despise having a connection that can't handle huge data transfers.
So yeah, your ISP is crappy. You should solve that part before playing again or accusing SE for things they haven't done
not the same datacenter, just the same distance from servers ^^ (I'm on Aether while EU are in Chaos)
I know a lot of players in EU though who have no problems

so, not only did both threads you reference say that its your internet provider, but now even players in the same data centers(EU), are saying that they dont have that problem. i think everyone agrees that, your internet sucks
