Call me mean to say this, but it seems like, for TOO long now, SE has been quite intent on forcing the FATE style of gameplay on us, to the point that they've essentially just rebranded it, removed the FATE title/mechanic, and began dumping rewards on people. No.
The hunts are FATE grinding without level sync. They are Odin and Behemoth on a daily basis. A first-come, first serve easy access to unlocking the highest gear you can outside of raiding, skills not required. You don't have to be good. You just have to get there first and take a swing. Many times, I've heard of people only landing a single hit, and scoring the log needed for sands/oils. Hey, more power to them, but why is that okay? Why is it even possible?

I took 3 B marks with a 2 person/2 chocobo party last night in a matter of 30 minutes, and I wasn't hunting! 2 of the marks were the same mark, it had just moved from one location to another on the same map. I was actually going mining when I stumbled on it. A cap on hunts might quell some of this. Everyone I meet has got iLVL 90 or above gear. I bought a full set of iLVL 90 gear for my Warrior and she's only LVL 46! I've max'd out the number of myth tomes I can carry, but who cares? I can't buy level 100 gear with them anyway, so they're just there to pay for my next animus book. It's all about buying sands and oils of time with Allied Seals. Maybe a weekly cap on those as well might help?
