The game is not dead, but Hunting... well as you state, it´s just the easy way to max out your iLVL by zerging and grinding - or as others would say "winning, by having more time to waste than others"...

and it´s not hunting, it´s just a 4 Hour recurring Routine of zerging down a list of some "Notorious Monsters" which die faster than it´s able to do even a second attack ^^...

i could not care less for people with a full set of 110 Strategy Gear, as it clearly says they did not achieve anything else than wasting huge amounts of time for clearly not the best gear in the game, never touched coil (and probably EX-Primals).

It also is really joke, as Hunting Log´s are handed out like they cost a gil to the ones, and others don´t see more than 2-3 by now... but doubt the RNG, you doubt the whole game...

sure, it is really sad i can not kill an S-Rank with an an alliance of around 30 people like intended, and i probably will never figure out how which monster really works, unless the whole semi-casual player base has maxed out their gear - but that´s just one slice of a really, really big cake...

no really, i just stopped totally to care what other people do/did achieve in this game, i only care for if the game makes fun to me...

Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...

I thought hunts was a (doing something else, happen apon, oh snap kill it thing). And I still believe it is great. But after today I hate them. Not because someone pulled early or I only got 1 seal. Its because all my friends do IS hunt. Ive been talking about farming ramuh ex for a ring and a sch book and when asked they all said they was doing hunts. So i make a Party finder group to do ramuh ex.... It turned in a fkin hunt party because no one would join my ramuh ex be EVERYONE is doing HUNTS.(point = hunts are so rewarding whats the point in doing anything else?.)

Hunt is great idea. Though set up is screw up so badly.
    Bad side
-Player trash talk/troll much worst than before like in this thread.
-/blist early puller even with rank b.
-unlimit cap kill DF and pvp and primal.
    - S rank Lag as early Odin and Behemonth fate cause mob disappear.
    - Very unfriendly for solo player.
    -Hunt is serious business.

    Good side:
    -you get sand/oil.
    -Zone is super lively.
-very good team-play with waiting people arrive and hate early puller together.

    Anything I miss?

Hunts seem incredibly obnoxious to me.

Not because they let everyone get 110 gear, but because there's nothing to them. It's been said by others, but it's just show up, poke mob X along with 60 others for 5-20 seconds, profit. The game shouldn't be that.

I understand not wanting to have 12 hour fights, I understand wanting to make things accessible, I understand wanting to give casual players a way to get the second-best gear, and I understand wanting events that get everyone on the server together. I don't necessarily agree that all of those are good design principles, but I get the arguments for them. Having it done this way though... it's just sad.

At least let people run through an interesting fight or something. Some four person content that's easy to assemble a team for, and not super challenging. I don't want to think up solutions: there's lots of ways to do it better. I just want to add my two cents saying that these hunts are terrible.

this is solely my opinion, marks dont need to be limitated the way to obtain them though maybe yes. Meaning, you only can kill once a given mob per week. After that you no longer can kill the same for a whole week. This way it MIGHT give people that didnt have a chance to get marks rather then reach the mob but not be able to even target it.

    Just me though

Hunts do need some adjustments but for the most part I enjoy them (Even though I only do rank B)

I would like to see them add more NMs and different spawn triggers (Lottery spawn(killing normal mobs to make an NM pop), Force spawn (using an rare item to lure it out) etc.

But please SE, do not make hunts instanced dungeons or even instanced the way Chimera fight was. We need open world content.

Open world content is one thing. Hoping you can click the coordinates, teleport, load, mount up and race to the flag before the NM (which has been auto-announced in every major hunt LS and Free Company) dies is quite another.

    1:06 P.M. <Announcing Person> Hunt Target XXXXXXX <11,27 Upper La Nosca> sighted.
1:06 P.M. <Announcing Person> Hunt Target XXXXXXX has been defeated.
    Rinse, repeat 75 times/day.

It isn't "fun." It definitely isn't fun to go to coordinates and not even see the hunt target due to server overload of players. How did they not anticipate that a system with an insanely generous reward-vs-effort ratio would have a metric ton of issues both technical and communal?

    I recall some players use to make announcements upon arrival but I found they arrived a little bit late...^^;

Fun is the reason to play

Maybe it is “unfair” that the high-level kit many players worked their butts off to get is now easily obtainable via The Hunt. But if that’s what makes it fun for some players, so be it. I suspect the programmers and producers will ratchet back “The Hunt” in time, and those who got their gear that way will learn just how little good it does them if they can’t wield it effectively.

As someone above said, having really flashy gear doesn’t make an unskilled character any good in a fight. Similarly, knowing the best way to get to a given place and getting there on foot beats riding a Couerl but having no idea where you’re going. I’d rather go into battle with marginally-equipped team members who know how to deal with a given monster; who understand teamwork, tactics, and strategy; who think clearly and know how to adapt, than with team members that are super-equipped but still clueless.

I don't think this is the main problem (it's something I don't like, but that's subjective).

The real problem is that it encourages spamming stuff with 60+ people. There's barely a fight, and there's certainly no challenge. It just seems so entirely pointless to me, other than as a way to get gear. I really see little difference between doing hunts and having an upgrade button you can press to turn you i100 gear to i110 after having spirit bonded it to 100%.

If SE wants to adopt a system of gear with updates... I don't love that, but I get why they would and I can live with it. Just make the way of getting the new stuff at least somewhat interesting. Let people do something, anything, more meaningful than poking mobs with 60 other people for five to ten seconds.

I want fun fights in this game. I think that much is something casual and hardcore people can agree on, although how hard the fights should be might be answered differently by each group. But do any of you actually think that hunts result in fun fights for either group? Seriously, the only thing they result in is gear. And people like getting shiny new stuff too, sure. But it's really empty if you're not doing anything to get it.
