    Request concerning Combat Combo Attacks

    The premise is this:

I would like a macro option that would allow the creation of a 3-skill combo that uses one button and when the skill successfully triggers, it will highlight the next ability in the combo, change the icon to the next ability in the chain, and allow said button to be pressed again to activate that next ability instead of doing so automatically.

If the skill chain fails, a chain-cancelling ability is used instead, or if the chain completes, then the icon resets to the starting icon.

i do not think macros works like that .. as the ability3 will be always ready => the macro will fire the third ability all the time
the only class that macro could work for is monk, as his actions are disabled when not in correct stance

    It would be more like:
    ability 1 <wait.3>
    ability 2 <wait.3>
    ability 3 <wait.3>

and of course if you missed the 2nd attack the 3rd would still go off (unless you're MNK and need the correct form). It sounds like all you really want to do is spam a single button. Is 3 buttons to use a full combo really so hard?

Yes, I just want to press 1 button 3 times to do those 3-ability combos.

I know how to make those kind of macros or at least a macro to press the button once and watch it do all 3 consecutively, but then you end up losing the control of being able to fire those abilities off manually. And no, it's not hard to press 3 separate buttons.

However as a dragoon, I do have more than one set of combos and pressing well over 12 buttons in a single combat round on a keyboard (less so on a game pad) while remaining mobile and keeping my eyes on what's going on within the 3D environment IS unnecessarily complicated and while I believe it's perfectly fine for a game's encounters to be complicated, I don't think it's fine for the controls to be.

Anyways, the game in it's current state won't change the icon of the macro from the first ability in the chain to the next ability's icon nor does it let you retain control of using the abilities manually while still being a single button. It's a small set of features I'd like the developers to add if at all possible.

what about combos that branch off from the same starting weapon skill? like GLD's Fast Blade to Riot Blade and Fast Blade to Savage Blade. how will the game know which of those we want to use? i don't think this idea will work so well. it's not practical.

That's why I'm requesting this feature for macros instead of the abilities themselves. You would still be able to customize the macro to suit your needs. In the case of a Gladiator, you could make two macros and you'd still have one less button over all on your Hotbar.

So you want a macro that does /micon "Step1", /a "Step1", changes /micon to "Step2", waits to be activated again at which point it will perform /a "Step2", and so on, going back to Step1 when it reaches the end of the list.
I don't like the implications this functionality has for non-combo actions.

As a Summoner, I know I'd make a macro using this command to throw out Bio2, then Miasma, then Bio, then Contagion, then Shadowflare. This reduces my class to about 5 buttons if I make a couple more cycle macros. I don't want this.

Monk? A nightmare. What about all the other stance-combo abilities monk uses? What happens when you use one and now need to mash your finisher twice in order to hit it on time? What if you hit it 3 times and now your hot bar is no longer in sync with where you are in the combo?

Then don't use it. I'm requesting a macro option and come to think about it, my original post makes no mention about that. Guess I'll change that now then.
