The fall of the fist of rhalgr and a relation to actual history (Possible Spoiler)

So I was a bit bored so I went back through the Ala mhigo history unlocked by the monk quest and I have seen a correlation with it to real history specifically the history of Enryaku-ji and Nobunaga Oda.

So as we were told in game the Fist of Rhalgr was viewed as a threat to the then ruler of Ala mhigo and setup a series of events to give just cause to destroy them removing their sect as a whole from power under Ala mhigo.

Oda ,while didn't initially start the conflict the Enryaku-ji warrior monks, jhe did persue the rebels against him knowing the monks would aid against him. In kind and supposedly because one of his strong holds was near the monks and a threat to his safety raised the temple to the ground. Which removed one pillar preventing him from making a united empire.

So I am not sure if this was intentional but it is quite possible we will see more warring state area legends appear the deeper they dive into Ala mhigo.

Many of us (back in the day) believe there was a correlation between Gaius van Baelsar's subjugation methods and the fall of the Fist of Rhalgr. It was said that Ala Mhigo barely put up a fight, without the Fist and with a King basically incapacitated it was easy for the Garleans to take over. A few words in the King's ear and he became a crazed man who up and destroyed Ala Mhigo's strongest military presence out of fear that he would lose power and what then happened, Gaius van Baelsar and the XIVth took over.

Oddly enough that also follows in trend with the Oda legend but this is where history and pop culture hits into a smash of differences. See Oda like the King had a standing army that could hold its own against any force that was present so if the eorzea forces could stop it, Ala Mhigo would have as well even with their flag ship still in tact. The fist's were wiped out in battle not trickery showing the force that wiped them out was able to stand even against its own of kin and with those said kin was able to battle not only gridiana but the forest elementals alike for extend periods (We also don't know what other aether influenced weapons/guardians existed there).

But this fighting force was conveniently not operational when the "attack" happened. Similar to Oda sending his forces away in aid of another. This is where pop culture sways the history a bit because no one really knew the reason Oda sent his forces as there was no legitimate tactical reasoning or even threat. Some say it was one of his own that suggested it, others say intentional misinformation. But regardless of the facts when left his own general turned on him or was the general plant the whole time we shall never know. 1.0 follows this as supposedly over night the city state falls, warriors scattered, and their realm lost.

Now history shows that Oda was not a peaceful man he was not a horrible leader or even a monster when dealing with things outside of battle. He was legitimately uniting japan putting in all types of decrees and laws that helped samurai and non samurai alike. But he being known as the devil king in pop culture is similar to how we in Eorzea hear him as crazed King. Only future lore will tell but empire taking over doesn't change the dynamic. Only the reason behind the king's actions and his last moments as king would as it could be completely orginal just with historical similaries as writing is drawn from things we know.
