Am I using the targeting system wrong or what?

I bound the E key to 'confirm' which selects the closest mob to you as long as you don't have something else selected. I then use tab to make adjustments and scrolls other mobs.

You can also use “ /targetenemy”, “/battletarget” or “/bt” for that.
