    PS4 targeting help

Hi so my brother just picked up this game on ps4 and I play on PC so I can\\\\'t really figure it out but he just wants to not double tap X to lock onto something, when he presses it once it just targets the nearest enemy and not necessarily the one he wants to attack so he\\\\'s ending up pulling mobs he doesn\\\\'t want to with fire or something. If someone knows of a way to reconfigure the targeting so that he can single tap to select and lock on that would be amazing

the only thing that can be done is pressing left/right on the d-pad. if its a party member, just cycle through the party list using up/down.to go from enemy to friend, you have to deselct the enemy, put your weapon away, and target the person, if they arent in youre party

If you hold down L2 and press R1 (or L1) it will cycle through mob targets.

Also when you have a mob targeted, using left or right on the d-pad with soft target, so if you select another target and fire off a spell it will then go back to your original target (if you don't press x).
This is useful for casting sleep on another mob, for example.

But using the L2 +R1 method it will hard target (the newly selected target will then be you main target).

Also, another tip, is changing the R3 button in configuration to assist.

Then if you use up/down on d-pad to choose the Tank, for example, you can then press assist and have his target selected.

This also works the other way, so when targeting the mob, press assist and you will now be targeting the player the mob is attacking, so you can throw on some heals.
Useful in FATE's to keep the Tank alive if he's not in your party.

And a double tap on assist can change your targeted mob when the tank changes his target.
