I'm on your server as well and it definitely doesn't happen as much as you say. In fact, I never saw it happen personally and I've been playing a lot since the last 2 weeks. I Can't say the same about control freaks and trolls :P

@OP: like people said, just tell your party that you're new to the dungeon. Most peole will understand that

My only advice to OP is - try to understand that you're not the only person who bought the game. If you do the dungeon for 1st time then say you're new but don't start to demand that party visit every single corner of the dungeon so you can get your mapping achievement. Just revisit that dungeon with friends later but don't make drama with random people from DF. Usually both the "new player" and the "impatient moron" are equally stupid and selfish in those situations.

Yeah I agree , always say ur new to content, I used to say I'm new even if it was my 2nd run and not too confident with the fights.
I have never seen anybody getting kicked for saying they are new, and I've done Alot of instances. What will happen is either someone or all the ppl will just leave( happens rarely) or they welcome u and start explaining mechanics as u go.
U will come across some rude ppl but those are present in every game to be honest and are not the majority in my experience.
So just say "hey Im new to this dungeon, can we do a full run please and let me kow if I'm doing something wrong". Most ppl will take u through it. What I hate is when new players don't say a thing and end up causing a wipe or 2. Because then u are wasting all of our time including yours.
Good luck with ur gaming and enjoy it,

Always say you're new. The experienced players will always try to adjust to your low experience so that you don't get overwhelmed.

Honestly, too many parties wipe because someone doesn't know mechanics and doesn't speak up. If you don't say anything, the party expects you to know what you're doing.

I know you guys are trying to be helpful but this is not what the OP was asking about...

It sounds to me like they're referring to the problem that starts with the last two Main Scenario dungeons and persists in all future 4-man dungeons (and pre-50 dungeons as well to be honest). A group of players who have run the instance dozens of times opts to speed run, bypassing chests and side rooms.

What I recommend OP is asking for a full clear at the beginning of the dungeon. Just say something like, "Can we do a full clear? I need the [gear/achievement]." It's not always about being new. For instance, it was a long time before I got full mapping for Satasha because most people simply don't want to do all the side rooms. I finally got it when I spoke up in chat and asked politely.

P.S. I would also like to add that a lot of people who are new to MMOs don't have the automatic reaction to speak up about being new to content. When I started I never stated I was new, not to hide the fact or anything, simply because I just didn't think of it because it's not something you do in other games. Most (all?) game content can be cleared (even here) with no pre-existing knowledge. FFXIV (and maybe MMOs) in general, are just really aversive to wipes, even though dying is something that is fairly standard and expected in most videogames, FFXIV players seem to LOATHE the idea of ever dying outside of Coil (and even then sometimes).

Mixed. Some of the best parties I've had have been through the DF as well as some of the worst. I've seen people trying to force a speed run even after half the party says they are new and I've seen groups with only 1 new person slow down and carefully explain all the mechanics.

-do you think Duty Finder is an overall great system for teamwork?
For teamwork, no. Teamwork requires practice and coordination. Your time with people from the DF is too short to really build "teamwork" beyond commonly accepted tactics.
For getting (most) stuff done, yes. I love that I don't have to build a party on my own and the tactics for most of the dungeons are easy enough that they can be quickly explained if needed.

-how can i not come off as a rude person when needing to accomplish achievements?
Say "Hey, I haven't finished mapping this place. Can we hit these spots?" I even pulled that in Qarn when I realized I hadn't ever gone into the treasure rooms. While some people will grumble, I think a lot of the time the experienced people who have done the dungeon a hundred times forget that not everyone might want to get through it at the same pace as them.

The majority of this game takes place at max level, due to this many max level players have little patience. Its an unfortunate part of any online game.

Just remember that there will be a lot of experienced players doing low level content with you because they have quests that force them to do so, thus they will be looking to finish "boring" content quickly. Always make sure to say you're new to a raid so they can slow down for you!

You will occasionally run into some rude people, but don't worry. Remember that they stand out in your mind because they're the exception.
