I keep hearing how the rewards from hunts are broken, but are they? Truly?

Back when we were still at pre- 2.2, the highest ilv gear were Mythology Vintage Armor (ilv90) and Allagan gear from First Coil. Myths were limited, Coil had lockout.

Now we're back to where we are now, 2.3, where the High Allagan is ilv110 from second coil with lockout, while soldiery is ilv100 with limit.

People say that restored soldiery is raid gear just cause the upgrade materials only dropped in coil but thats no longer the case.

This process is gonna keep repeating every patch, and it wouldnt surprised me if the new tomestone equipment is upgraded in tiers. Now the ilv that was exclusive to coil is now available to everyone but this will eventually die down unless they plan to upgrade/update the hunt rewards every mayor patch

I tend to run solo hunting most of the time but will invite random stragglers, fc and ls mates as I find mobs. Sometimes that evolves into a full fledged hunting party that will help eachother, sometimes the group just disapears afterwards. I'm fine with both. I also try to do what I can to spawn S ranks(fishing, gathering when I can) and then search for them. So far only managed the judgeray and got the S rank pop from it.

Overall it's something to kill time while I'm waiting on people or just bored with stuff. What a lot of people seem to not understand is that if I'm hunting it's not 100% what I'm doing. It's what I'm doing as a secondary activity and will always help people. If I'm bard I will help DPS fates if I see people strugling, as a healer I'll rez people I find or heal them as I find them. All in all having fun.

How many of the hunting horde actually participate in gathering to trigger spawns? Probably not a whole lot of them. Guarantee they will be there to zerg tho. So whos hard work was it in the end to cause certain marks to spawn? That's right, most if not all don't really care, they just want their reward.

On a nicer track, I commend ruskie for helping others, need more players like that.

Hunts are as good as the people 'hunting' them at any given moment. For example, if people are polite and friendly, they will wait a long time for people to get there, advertise locations in LS/FC/shout, and even 'reset' monsters when they are accidentally pulled. If people are impatient, they will pull immediately upon finding it, and possibly never report it. I understand the reasons people don't report Bs (or pull them very early), but there is no reason to pull As super early. I have gotten to know a lot of people in hunt parties and it has been pretty fun 'working together', spreading out among all the possible zones. It is frustrating when people intentionally troll (either by reporting a pop that didn't happen or by forcing mobs to reset over and over), but that is few and far between. My server has a google doc which many people can access and edit to keep track of times and windows, which I think is great. It makes the whole thing easier to do.

So really... while there are a LOT of bad sides to the community that come out during hunts... I will agree that hunting, in general, has been a POSITIVE community experience for me.

I totally agree. It's has given the game a completely new face. Before it was all about farming dungeons to get myth and solds , NOW we can actually use the whole world rather than just shouting in Mor Dhona and basically doing no much. It's fantastic seeing people running around like headless chickens.

I am honestly mega happy with hunts. I was sick TO DEATH of SR wonderes place and Bray over and over again.

Neat job Yoship. Can't wait for new marks!

We wait for B ranks on Gilgamesh so that everyone can get full credit. It works excellent for us. I always have my tanks reset if they possibly can if there aren't many people there. You can report and waste a GM's time if you want. But we like to make sure as many people get credit as possible. They help us, we help them. That's how it works on Gilgamesh, most of the time at least.

Edit: BTW I love hunts. I really like my community and have gotten to know many new people. Sure there are trolls, and we do our best to keep them out of the good linkshells. But at the end of the day it shows you the best side of people. People reset as best as they can when there are early pullers and will often wait 5ish minutes for A ranks, especially if they are hard to get to. I've played this game more because of hunts than anything lately.

Pretty much. Which is why I never understood why some raiders seemed so obsessed with preventing non-raiders from getting the Soldiery gear. Who gives a s*** how much gear people can get from Hunts? I suppose I'll never get the mentality of elitists who think that only hardcore raiders are allowed to have any gear at all.

I'd almost agree with you if.... It wasn't for the Hunt LS's thinking they should get every NM. And if they didn't get every NM, they'd spam heal you out of range to reset it. Or when they spam Medica II 30 times before the A's or S ranks to make so much animation so the NM disappears for you if you're a caster. I'm guessing you run with a horde of people like this right?
I just solo B's or duo B's, and yet the hunt LS's feel they deserve to have every NM and try to hinder anyone not in their group. I'm sure tons have me blisted for soloing them or having enough enmity so they can't reset it, but i couldn't care less. People that play like that i want nothing to do with.

    It's like 5:59 -> 6:00am

I'm really proud what my server is doing right now. I met lots new ppl who I used to see their name a lot but afraid to talk to them. Now, we can do things together and have fun.

oh well engrish is hard you guys figure out how to read the following or please skip it:

Argument is usually coming from the miss-match of the point of view. If wait 30 seconds can make another 50 people also earn the credit -> 50 more happy people, "I" will be very glad to do so. "I" will shout for the mob's location and share the credit with everybody. Most of people in our server have this sharing thought in their mind. I'm so happy I'm together with a big happy family. "I" also sort of understand why the people want to pull early or solo it. One day when I was mining some lv25 stones for my pond crafting, I got hit by one mob (later I knew it's B rank). So, I changed my job wait for the cool down wear and hit him back. Then, there was one person was mad at me for didn't shout the location while she hit the mob with me at mob's 30% hp, that's like 8 mins away since the mob hit me already. I always heard about the teamspeak team but never know how to reach them even though I tried to ask people in various LS and no one answered. I was so upset because it's only 5 seals, the only NM I saw in 2 weeks and I already made people mad... That event made me don't want to do ANY hunt forever.

Fortunately, one day super Vergil saved me and invited me to a hunt party, (aww now it's like I'm preaching ) then I met lots lots really nice and kind people. It's like my hopeless I-will-never-get-any-allied-seals thought suddenly like thunder storm -> clear or hmm 5:59am ET -> 6:00am ET (super music starts in Eorzea) happy happy time. People are nice in there keep repeat and repeat location and where need to be careful, or "please be nice to the early puller". It feels nice since lots "orange" names around me and I can stalk them at once. I can now team up with Mr. Face, team up with the random stranger I kept seeing jumping round market board, team up with the Roe always show up near retainer bell with super whm robe, team up with the person always stand next to Grid Crystal, and get to know all of them. It's really a nice event that very fortunately I was inside one nice server that has people willing to band together instead of "It's my precious!" and fight each other.

<3 you guys and super /feed

Things are probably different server to server, seems some are having problems while others mostly not. One canonly hope their server gets better community wise with time.
