Problem lies mostly in the true RNG factor, once again. One person 100%'s all their Grade IV's, another person loses 10 costing them millions or many, many more hours SB'ing in the hopes they'll RNG harder for the particular Grade IV's they need.


Do you really "need" that Savage Might/Aim IV? (mentioning those because those are the two most expensive that I've seen)
If you don't like the costs associated with it, you can go for another stat distribution with very small consequences in the end result.
This - I can't afford to buy and risk losing grade IV but that doesn't mean something must be "eased" because I don't have enough gil. Can make a very good Novus with melding only 96%-100% grade IV and then switching to another stat.
Removing the chance to fail materia meld on Novus actually would be an insult to people who have lost millions of gil and melded their weapon to max stat.
