How many times are people going to keep ignorantly comparing this to wow? seriously, 2 very different games, just becauase they have minions and mounts doesn't mean they are "clones" or whatever other dumb reason people think they are the same come up with.
You need to think outside the box a bit more. It doesn't have to be Action 1 results in Effect 1. It can be Action 1 results in Mechanic 1 to be used for Effects 1, 2 or 3.
For instance if THF were a support-oriented DPS you could set up Accomplice on someone to equalize your enmity between eachother, raising your own to lower theirs. Imagine a tether similar to Garuda and her sisters. While Accomplice is active you could then use HP/MP/TP Steal. The ability could function similar to Energy Drain in that it deals damage and converts that damage into HP/MP/TP. That HP/MP/TP could then be transferred directly to your Accomplice'd party member. Without Accomplice it would replenish your own HP/MP/TP instead. To balance it with BRD, while Accomplice is active you could take a hit to your DPS or you could take a hit to your DPS upon use of HP/MP/TP Steals. Heck, you could even have them steal gear durability should someone's equipment break midfight and replenish some of it with Accomplice (like 5-10% or so, enough to make it usable not enough to save much gil).
If THF were a tank all of the steals could be focused on generating enmity (as I've said before, people hate those who steal from them), self-heals or mitigation. For instance you could use an ability like Pilfer Sight which blinds the target and increases your own accuracy. This could be a special buff that stacks with the run of the mill Blind from Flash/Ruin II. Life Steal could be a Secondwind. A mechanic could be put in place where each time you use Life Steal a buff is generated that looks like a potion. Completing a certain combo chain could then consume one of those potions for a self heal.
There is limitless potential.

Reading this, I can't help but thinking of a way to steal Enmity from your allies. Someone pulling things from you? Use the ability on them, steal half their enmity, and now it's back on you. Can't help it may lead to some massively interesting pull strategies (BRD Wide Volley -> Enmity steal-type pulls), but is that a bad thing?
Or a Cover-like ability where you link to someone and take all the enmity they create while linked. That'd actually be pretty fun.
better take a WHM then for enmity steal type pulls ^^Reading this, I can't help but thinking of a way to steal Enmity from your allies. Someone pulling things from you? They can have such an insane enmity at start it becomes boring when a WHM is trolling.
Yeah that's essentially what Accomplice/Collaborator did in FFXI. They'd steal 25%/50% of your selected party members enmity for a limited time and they shared a recast timer. For THF tank in FFXIV you could just get one of them, give it the same quality of uptime/cooldown as Cover and go to town. Would work effectively the same as Cover.
Having never played THF much (Or much at all, to be fair. I never did get much playtime with a solid group), that's useful to know.
