Request: Racial Gear Expanded (Dyeing, Interchangable)

I posted in one of the item forums about being able to dye racial gear but I would like to post it here, along with an addition to the post, for better exposure in the hopes it gets added in a future patch. (Original Thread)

In the video for the Lightning Returns Miqo'te costume, the player can dye the skirt. This led me to think "wouldn't it be neat if we could dye our own race's clothes?"

The race specific gear is some of the most unique in the game. For a lot of them they're the only piece of equipment in that style. Look at the female Hyur thigh boots for a good example. They're the only boots in the game that are tight to the shape of the lower leg. All other boots have that chunky feel about them, which in most desired glamour sets is quite unappealing. The problem is we're stuck with brown!

I ask that in a future patch we are either given the ability to dye our race gear or craft new dyeable versions of the gear that we can use in our glamour sets. I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement.

Here are a couple of (quick) Photoshops using some of the colours used in-game. In the first dyed picture of the Midlander's Boots, the black compliments her skirt much better than the brown default colour.

    Midlander Boots:

    Miqo'te Skirt:

To add further to this request, I'd like to quote Ambie Lapin's idea for other races being able to use any race's equipment:

Whilst I appreciate this would require more work than simply dyeing the gear, as additional models for the equipment would need to be made, I feel it would be a positive step. Some of the racial gear is very unique compared to other equipment. There are no skirts in the style of a Miqo'te's and no leather tights like an Elezen's. Being able to use these gears in our glamour sets would add another rich layer to this already enjoyable system - even more so if they can be dyed.

When I used my fantasia to turn into a Female Roe the thing I missed the most were the Mi'quote shoes, lol. And yeah, I'd love this.

While we can't guarantee that a /facepalm emote will be implemented, we will continue to add emotes as we go!

    They DID IT! <3

The whole point is that it's unique and race specific... why ruin the whole concept of it by making it wearable by the other races? I said in the other thread about RSE sharing and I'll say it here again, I'd be severely disappointed if they made them wearable by the other races. The starter gear is among what little visible amount of racial culture there even is in the game at this point.

If you want to look like another race so bad, use a phial of fantasia. If you are just envying their clothes, find your own sense of fashion. Or just keep begging until the devs cave since they don't seem to care much about lore anyway, like most others.

I'd just prefer the dye system be expanded in general.
Though I'm not fond of some of the decisions surrounding it, the actual system GW2 uses would be an awesome template to use, but I suppose multiple dye channels = more storage and they've seemed to want to be as thrifty with hardware as possible, so feh. :-\
Just see so many things that can't be dyed 'properly' (Hello, gathering vests) that, combined with the clunkiness of glamour, it makes me not even want to bother...

I'm pretty sure that if you throw money at them, you can readily find an Ul'Dahn tailor that will make you whatever you please, so the lore bit doesn't necessarily make sense anyway.

I'm talking about racial culture, of which there barely is any as it is. It's alright though, I know in this day and age no one cares about such things and prefer "everything for everyone".

Let people be wannabe posers I guess.

I would *love* to have dyable versions of the RSE (as well as having it be usable by other races, though obviously I understand the reasoning against that) and quite frankly I totally expect them to implement something like this soon. Of course, I also expect it to require 2 million gil worth of materials for each piece, so there's that.

I don't want to look like another race. I want to dress like another race.

I definitely want to be able to dye the racial clothing. That would be awesome.
