    Character Movement Suggestion

As it stands currently, there are two movement types:
    • Standard Type (character-based)
    • Legacy Type (camera-based)

With standard type, rotating your character with the right mouse button actively rotates your character, which means if you can follow a moving target with your mouse as you're casting, you won't get the annoying "Target out of range" error mid-cast. This is great news for PC players who don't utilize the lock-on feature that's used more so in the console versions than the PC version. However, it seems with this great pro, the con is the fact that you are FORCED to backpedal. As far as I could find, there is no option to turn off backpedaling.

Legacy type gets rid of this annoying caveat by allowing the character to run towards the camera, but now rotating with the right mouse button doesn't change the direction your character is facing and thus casts will never complete on moving targets moving out of your "cone" of vision. This can be alleviated by use of spamming a /facetarget macro or whatever hotkey you have bound to "Face target", but I feel like that's not exactly an elegant way of solving such a simple problem. Why can't we have the best of both movement types?

My suggestion is for there to be an option to toggle backpedaling or make it so that right mouse button dragging works differently from left mouse button dragging in legacy type. Either of these options would work.

Brilliant suggestion, i'm basicly forced to stay in Standard Type for tracking during spellcasts on my BLM, but also when i'm on PLD so that my shield is always facing the monster. Yet at the same time, i can only realistically dodge left or right due to the backpaddling. Would be much more preferable if i could dodge attacks without having to turn the camera/character with the mouse before running, as well as having a way to keep facing the monster.

Odd. I hardly ever run into the line of sight problem, maybe one every couple months, and I just adjust really quick and move on. Perhaps just get in the habit of anticipating possible mob movements and placing yourself accordingly?
