    Expansion Jobs Speculation

    We all know Ninja is planned for 2.4.

    But looking into the future with the expansion on the horizon, were told that the new expansion will have a new tanking job and healing job, what do you folks think it might be? Curious on what the community feels might be coming to us.

    To be fair there may be only 2 tank jobs, but there is only 1 good DPS. JK, but seriously... MONK LOVE!

    Honestly, if you good reliable dps with tons of burst you'll bring a DRG over anything else. MNK shines in long battles that's about it.

    I bet the new gun job will be a healer. Not that that's what I want personally, but Yoshida did say it wouldn't be what we are expecting.. when it came to a gun wielding class. I think everyone is expecting a gun wielding class/job to be a ranged dps.

    What I would like to see is a Great Sword class/job. *coughDarkKnightcough* Though, I want it to be a melee dps. The only problem is we already have a lot of dps. I would personally hate to see it made into a tank, but if it still retains it's badassery and darkness, I suppose I would give it a try as a tank. Would still be much more enthralled if it was a dps though.

    Or it could be a Gun blade ^_-. Maybe a base gun class, a corsair job, and a melee job wielding a gundblade job.

    Tank - Dark Knight or Samurai, depends on where we go
    Healer - Dancer or Chemist, depends on where we go

    Just ones I'd like to see. people seem to think that introducing more tank jobs will increase the pool of tanks but in other game that's proven to be false so I can't see why it would change here.

    I think they need to fix some skills, notably cross class and an expansion is the best time to do it.

    Cure being useful to heal on a paladin, for example. With only base mind it's useless. I'm not asking for a one man healer but at least have it heal more. You take more damage while casting it! Sadly true, even while questing.

    Letting PLD healing for more using cure would end up giving it more survivability than it has, specially if you take into account that it already has survival and damage reduction cooldowns. For what the job is supposed to do (tank things), it's fine as is.

    I expect two new classes to go with the jobs, but I'm not sure of what to expect until we get more info on what they're going to do to existing classes and the class=>job dynamic going into the expansion. Ideally they should revamp the classes so that they can branch intwo two jobs the way SCH and SMN branch out of ACN. As much as I hate to admit it, it'd be sort of difficult for the classes as they are right now to support a second job of a different role.

    That said, I'm hoping for a class that will branch into beastmaster for the tank job. The gunblade class (they've been pushing gunblades at us a little too much during this patch) would probably end up getitng the healer job; I just hope that they don't get crowbarred into the musketeer's guild, otherwise we're gonna have a good number of pissed off people.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
