He's right actually. This game was originally going to be set out for PS3, but since 1.0 was a flop, and you needed a PC from NASA to even runYou assumed because I made a thread about PS3 limitations, that I was on PC? Interesting. I started at 2.0 launch on ps3, saw how crappy it ran during fates, then quit til ps4 launch. Never played on my PC for extended periods because it ran it at 10 fps. Also you're quite wrong. It was developed for PC then ported to ps3.
1.0, they held out. They stated from the get-go that this was also going to be shared by PS3.

The game (A Realm Reborn) was built from the ground up with the intention of releasing it on the Playstation 3. What you call the process matters not.You assumed because I made a thread about PS3 limitations, that I was on PC? Interesting. On a side note, I really wish we could get some stats as to how the player base is distributed across platforms. It would be interesting to see what the community would look like if PS3 users were shunned. Not great, i'm guessing.

It does, actually. The effect of PS3 limitations, are that you have a sizeable community in which to partner up with and play content with. It means que times that aren't 6 hours long. It means the game exists at all really.
If what you want is a game that isn't held back by console limitations, then that means dropping support for that PS4 you saved up for. And no, not 2 or 3 years from now, it would have to be dropped right now. Get it?

1.0 failing had nothing to do with it not being on any platform other than the PC. If 1.0 had been on the PS3 as well, it wouldn't have succeeded. You know that, right?Oh give it up. You had your PC exclusive elitist MMO, it couldn't run on most PC's and it flopped.
Those PS3 'limitations' are people of whom a large part, maybe the largest, supported this game and allowed it to become a success in the first place. The game was built with PS3 and low-end PC's in mind to begin with. You obviously have no idea of the consequences of what would be if the object of your agenda was to come to fruition.
You realize that PS3 limitations prevent a lot of content from being implemented, and not just cause certain content that is implemented to be implemented poorly? Memory limitations are real, and have been cited all over the place by the dev team on a wide range of issues. Maybe you don't care that the game could be better, but it's pretty apparently a lot of other people do care.I think people are jumping the gun just a tad. the only content I've noticed that is hindered by ps3 limitations is the load times during the main scenario dungeons when people are speed running it and the hunts. At least from my experience anyway. All other problems I have people still have on a high powered PC or PS4 such as the 9k errors, etc.
No one is complaining about "console limitations", they are complaining about "PS3 limitations". The PS4, technically, sure, limits the game... But not in the way the PS3 does. The PS3 doesn't even have 1 GB of RAM. How many PCs, even the cheapest ones, do you know of that are sold in stores today that have less than 1 GB of RAM?It does, actually. The effect of PS3 limitations, are that you have a sizeable community in which to partner up with and play content with. It means que times that aren't 6 hours long. It means the game exists at all really.

This is like people asking "Why not make the minimum wage 10,000 dollars an hour?" as a counter-argument to raising the minimum wage at all. It's not worth anyone's time to explain that there is a reasonable middle ground to someone who thinks PS4 limits the game as much as the PS3 does.
Why not put FFXIV on the 3DS then? I mean, a lot of people have 3DS. They'd get a lot more money that way, right? The quality of the experience means nothing; availability alone will ensure additional subs and more funding? To... What? Make those 3DS graphics pop even more than they already... don't?I'll say it bluntly, anyone who thinks the PS3 is holding this game is back is completely wrong.
MMOs work on money. More money going into the game = Better overall experience.
The PS3 and also LOW-MID RANGE PCs (very important) make up a huge part of the subscriber base.
Rather than complaining that these people are holding back your experience, you need to realise that without their subscription fee you wouldn't have a game to play.
This really has nothing to do with people disliking people who play on PS3s. I don't know them. I don't have strong feelings about them either way. However, the extreme memory limitations and other factors imposed by supporting the PS3 are obvious and abundant.PS3 players, especially those in Japan, are subsidizing the costs of this game in a big way, only for people to turn around and treat them like crap and basically tell them not to play the game.
Which is ironic, because if they didn't there would be no game, or at least substantially less of one.
PC players should be thanking PS3 players for putting up with what they see as a clearly inferior experience, not trying to get rid of them and make them feel unwelcome.
Every single post you ever see from the dev team where they complain about making sure they have enough memory for this or that, you can rest assured it's because of the PS3.
Releasing on PS3 at all was undeniably a good thing, but it would be prudent to drop support as soon as enough of the PS3 players have migrated to PS4 and/or PC.

-.- are these useless threads still alive. just drop the idiotic banter plz

I think people are jumping the gun just a tad. the only content I've noticed that is hindered by ps3 limitations is the load times during the main scenario dungeons when people are speed running it and the hunts. Much like the PS2 for FFXI, the PS3 is important for the Japanese market. PC games aren't as big there, and the PS4 has not been selling well (not because of competition, but because people are not buying next-gen consoles, unlike the US where PS4 and XB1 are both selling extremely well compared to other console generations). Japanese game developers are still mostly writing for PS3 (Sony released a statement to this effect recently, and you can see this pretty obviously by comparing game stores in the US to game stores in Japan).
So I wouldn't expect it to go anywhere for quite a while.

Crystal and Syrcus Tower are not laggy for me, and I'm on a PS3 with a non-SSD HDD; I'm thinking that particular "real limitation" is actually an internet/connectivity problem on your end.Now that we know PS3 Limitations is real and here to stay, how do you think this will affect the game moving forward? The rendering issues become highly problematic in instances where a moderate number of players are within viewing distance. Hunts are near unplayable, CT/ST are laggy, Odin/Behemoth are near unplayable, and FATES used to be a nightmare when it was the goto EXP source.
I'm scared this is gonna , if it already hasn't , influence what content is released down the line for users on all systems. Will we see less "Massively Multiplayer" content and more small party instances based content because the ps3 can't handle it?
Thoughts?
In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
