Getting a Wider Camera View in PS4

I have watched a number of videos online and the camera seems much more "pulled back" (not sure if I'm describing that right) with a much wider view of the party and goings on. Most of these videos are made by PC users, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get a wider view in the PS4 version. I've tried getting as far back as possible by using the thumbsticks and it is still not as wide a view as what I'm seeing in the videos. The possible explanations I can think of:

1) It's because videos are generally of bosses, and there's special views for those fights
2) It's not possible to get as wide a view with a PS4
3) I can't find the right setting in the UI menu to get an extra wide 3rd person view

I'm thinking it's 3. I feel kinda dumb here. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe its a camera limitation on PS4, to give a smaller view to render, so as not to cause framerate issues.

I know on the PC you can use CTRL plus Up/Down arrow keys to change the center point of the camera, in relation to the height of the character. Which basically means you can focus down for a better angle on the floor, or move it up and get a wider over-the-shoulder view. I don't see a way to do this on the PS3/PS4 controls BUT you might be able to adjust it if you hook up a keyboard! Give it a shot and report back if it works for the others (I only play PC or I'd try it myself).

Camera angle also depends on the race - Lalas have different one to most of the other races for example and so on ... I'll try CTRL + Up / Down when I get back home - would be nice to be able to move the central point up a bit when playing as Lala.

I know what you're referring to @ OP.

Unfortunatly it's a console limitation but...

there is an option with the Legacy Camera setting that allows you to FIX the camera distance, either by check box or a keybind (can't remember which as not at my PS4 at the moment, will add later upon return). Most encounters tend to cause the camera to inadvertently zoom in slightly to the character, with this option checked/set the camera will always zoom to max distance based on the camera angle/placement etc.

It would be nice if the camera could zoom out to see an entire battlefield, too (I'm on PC). ie. Leviathan; let me zoom out so I can see the splashes without scanning my camera 360 deg like a crazy person. Or, so I can see the entire model of a large boss and don't feel like I'm staring at their nuts.

you can zoom the camera out for ps4. if you have a keyboard, its page down, on controller, hold L1+up/down on the right joystick. i zoom out the camera completely on CT/ST runs because, as healer, it can be hard to find alliance members in those large arenas, so i target them and look for the arrow

im figuring that out with the lala. i finally used my fantasia and turned into a lala, and was shocked to see that the camera had not only zoomed in, but it seems to be set a lot lower. so, i zoomed out. its not perfect, but it definitely helps.

to zoom the camera in or out just hit LB or L1 + UP or Down on the right analog for gamepad users and for PC users just hit page UP or down to zoom in and out
