So if S/E could create a system where you could create another alias for your account outside of your email and create an S/E account friend list, it'd be possible. But that would require them to work with more than just the FF14 team probably.
This would be a feature added to the Lodestone and wouldn't be useful in-game at all without expanding the Lodestone beyond a simple webservice.
