Think i missed something in getting my mount

Hey all, ive got a lvl 22 Maurader, i have done the envoy quests, I started in Limsa, I read somewhere that at 20 your supposed to get your chocobo quest, and the option to join a Great Company, I havent gotten either, as far as I know I am still following the main story line, currently Helping the Scions with there stuff. Im in dry bone (i think thats whats its called). Did I miss a quest somewhere?

I have tried to go back and talk to the Admiral in Limsa, but I cant get in, he guard wont let me, and theres no quest there.

Any help would be appreciated, I really want to get my mount.

You haven't missed anything. The quest is just a minimum level of 20. Early on if you level from nearly anything but main quests you'll usually stay a couple levels ahead. Sounds like you're pretty close to it in any case. Don't worry, it's hard to miss.

It's a level 20 quest, but as there are actually quite a few level 20 quests in the main scenario, most people are likely to be a bit overleveled by the time they get to the Grand Company one. If you're now doing the level 20 quests for the Scions in Drybone, it's coming up soonish (right after you get another good chance to impress all those GCs).

Just did this myself last week. To buy the Chocobo for 2,000 seals, some people were telling me to "grind fates" but if you check your Hunt Log after joining a Grand Company you'll see a new little tab in there for Grand Company hunting. Wiki the mobs for some really easy hunts worth 300-400 seals each.

There was some confusion between myself and some other noobs about if we were getting seals for doing dungeons or not, but what we found was that the hunt log includes several mobs from the same dungeon. Exactly what mobs/dungeon will probably depend on which Grand Company so I leave out specifics, but if you work out what dungeon yours includes you could get most of the cost of a Chocobo from one dungeon run, in the dungeon where the hunt log enemies are found.

Once you have reached level 16 you can access the "low level roulette". You'll get seals for this, if you use the roulette with any DoW or DoM lower than level 50. If you use the roulette as the "adventurer in need class", you'll get an extra bonus of seals and gil.
But the roulette is on a daily timer. The seals are only given the first time you use the roulette.

Once you're level 16 and have unlocked at least Sastasha and Tam-Tara, you can run the Roulette and get the extra XP rewards. Then, after you've joined a Grand Company, you start getting GC seals for the Roulette as well. So your first class has to be a minimum of 20 to get the seals, since that's the earliest point at which you can join a GC. (FATEs work similarly, in that initially you're only eligible for the XP and gil rewards, but once you've joined a GC, you get GC seals as well.)

(Later, going back on other classes, it only requires reaching level 16 to run Roulette and get seals, but that's after the unlocks and GC membership have already been established by your first class through that part of the game.)
