But isn't that really the only way to make it *difficult* without requiring some sort of raid-based progression?
I guess their plan worked. I find the grind to be tedious and not fun, and have had difficulty in trying to motivate myself to actually bother with the grind.
Heard several suggestions for ways to remove the RNG... This one is a new one.
Good idea besides this the other good one I've heard is instead of being "kill until you luck out and get one" have it be a quest to "get gold on every fate in the zone". Both accomplish the same thing and would likely take about the same time on average.
Not to mention boring. The difficulty lies in the commitment I am struggling to give with this thing.
Plus I see less people in area's farming FATE's so it's going to get harder for new comers or people who waited too long and the grind will be longer than it use to be
because of lack of the people.
IMO this is a great idea. this Atma thing is complete crap. i have only RECENTLY obtained my Atma weapon. like 2 or 3 weeks ago. and have been trying to get it since day 1 of release. and this was playing FATE's for 1~3 hours per day at least 5 days a week. so yeah... complete garbage. will never do this again for any other character. that is for sure. lol.
i very much like this idea. it is sound and solid. however i would suggest to still keep the location specificness of it. like you can only progress each piece of the Atma at the current areas you have to currently hunt for the Atma piece.

Relic currently comes in 5 steps: original, Zenith, Atma, Animus, and Novus.
Original and Zenith are/were reasonably quick. You had to kill HM Primals (Titan was tough for some folks once upon a time), then at worst 3 weeks of cap myth for Zenith. Some time investment, but not too bad if you had a decent group.
Then Atma, Animus, and Novus became single player grinds with HUGE amounts of time required. Group really didn't matter much, maybe helped you farm myth some % faster at best.
Nowadays you have the choice of encounters (levi ex, ramuh ex, second coil) which can get a good weapon with a good group in not too much time. Or you have ST for tomestone + hunts farm for Sand which can be done just by joining any random group. Relic is just overshadowed by easier/better options as is. I don't mind it being a grind since there are non-grind options. But it needs to be proportional, not this stupid inflation. Up the Atma drop rate and decrease Animus/Novus requirements about 25% and that might do it.
I liked the whole specific zones, it's why I kept in the part with the "designated areas" bit :3
