I think it could be good as long as the stuff you get a trivial like a paper birthday crown or a cake that you can light up and eat thats gives you something like a 2% xp bonus like a lot of quest reward food does in this game.

I too wish there was some clue about why we chose a name day and deity for our characters.
I know in 1.xx I got a ring for my deity but we had no forewarning of that and no way to choose again (despite it being a LONG time since we made our characters and a lot that we knew about them/ourselves may have changed since then) so that was kind of a double edged sword when the ring no longer seemed suitable.
I wish we could at least change our deity by going to the symbol and praying there a few times over a few days to re-devote ourselves, even if we can never change our day.
Either way, I wish both pieces of information were relevant after creation (other than that one ring that many players will never get).

There was an interview around 2.0 release that discussed the choice of deity. The answer was that deity choice will gain some significance later on when the Twelve become central to the story and that there would be some revelation about who/what they are. We've heard nothing more about it since then and I have no clue where the interview is now... Just gotta wait for an expansion on it I guess.I too wish there was some clue about why we chose a name day and deity for our characters.

I remember that. Thing is, the Twelve have only been referenced a couple times over the story so far, but each time it was in reference to primal summoning. We haven't had a full-blown act to call on the Twelve since the final quests of 1.#. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the expansions as something invoking the Twelve sounds like a plot you base a much larger story on than what we've been getting from the patches. There was an interview around 2.0 release that discussed the choice of deity. so, we have an ingame birthday
does the time tick anywhere? if I remeber right in one RL year 30 years ingame pass if not more
so how old are we ingame and .... why are you kids on my lawn?
This actually piqued my interest.
A day in Eorzea is 72 minutes. So 525600 minutes in a Earth-year, divided by 72 = 7300 days. 7300 / 365 = 20. One year in Earth is exactly 20 years in Eorzea. Timing is based off the holy trinity system (i.e. each hour in game is exactly 3 minutes, each minute/GCD tick being 3 seconds). Numbers are awesome.
As for time ticking, you can switch your time at the top right corner (if you didn't move it through customization) to ET which stands for Eorzea time, but as far as being able to tell which day/month it is idk. Does anyone know if you can see what day/month it is in Eorzea?
We have plenty of useless Minions at this point, the which you will use them for a week at most, then forget. (QoL here - right)
Perhaps as some stated, a free ticket for aetherites or even better, your teleports are free for the entire day. #SWEET
That said, I don't know if SE will state once again that this might strain their servers so..

Just so you know, you can also see what the time is in Eorzea by looking at any clocks. They're all accurate.
As for finding out the date, I don't think that's possible.
I think they may be purposely keeping away from dates as a whole with a couple of notable Earth-annual exceptions. NPC's will directly reference holidays being the year before for instance, but that will be one of our years, not theirs. I'm curious if they'll start referring to the calamity as being more than 5 years ago come August or if it'll be another of those vague dates that don't really fit once you start poking it.
Also, I'm pretty sure that their years don't have our 365 days. You can calculate it by going into the nameday choosing part of the character creation menu and seeing how many months are available in there and how many days each of those months have. It's been a REALLY long time since I've been in there but I don't think it's an exact match (I could be wrong though).
It kinda seems SE may be shooting themselves in the foot making dates impossible to line up like that.

I definitely remember there being 12 months. There was an Astral and Umbral Moon month for each variance, with 6 variances in total equalling 12 "months"
Meh, instead of speculating I just looked it up
Seems Eorzean calendars have 12 "moons" (said: months) with 32 days in each moon. So an Eorzean year has 384 days in it. So 1 year on Earth is actually much closer to 19 years in Eorzea (19.010416666)
I wonder if Eorzean's have leap years to compensate for that decimal? Lol...
