    [Dev10??] Encyclopedia of Eorzea

    I'm curious SE.

I'm a crafter and I find it weird that in order to make a sword, shield, bow, or set of arrows, that I have to take the time to either logout and read online...or get "look a blue moon I just saw a pig fly" lucky and be rewarded with the recipe I want after finishing a leve.

Why is it that there is no in-game reference to the recipes us crafters can cook up?

    So, I started thinking....

    What about an Eorzea library?

Not only would it nurture our curious thirst for recipes, but could also house additional content such as..

    * Quests that would require you to search for clues in it
    * Books with hidden maps to unknown areas in the game
    * Tutorials for new players could be placed within
    * Numerous Lores of Eorzea for people who love to read

It could go even further by allowing players to place journals, that detail the findings they've encountered in Eorzea, in it for other adventurers to read.

Yeah, a library, not a real necessity, I wouldn't die from alt-tabbing and writing down recipes then logging back in.

But it sure would be awesome place to have and a cool convenience. The Encyclopedia of Eorzea!

Just a thought. What do you guys think?

Oh and by the way, 1.18 rocked my socks, underwear and shoes off. Thanks

It would be fine if they wanted us to use external websites too look up all of our information... but alt-tab doesn't f'n work.

Since we'll prolly never get a proper Alt+Tab feature, and currently have to rely on 3rd party scripts and programs to do so, what you're asking, and while its a really awesome idea, I doubt SE would ever consider it.

While I like this idea a lot (Since I have to frequently need to refer to fansites to get recipes and weapon infos and such) it would take some of the exploration factor out of the game if SE posted all the information right after a patch into the game. However, if it were slightly player-built then that would be really cool. Say you found a new recipe after a patch after completing it; the game could ask you if you want to submit it to the Encyclopedia and it would update the Encyclopedia with the new recipe (Probably even give you some credit for being the first to submit it). Similar for monster/NM information and the like.

That sounds incredibly painful O.o; Are you against playing the game in windowed mode?

I really like the idea of a library. Seeing as Ishgard hasn't opened it's gates yet, it seems like the perfect place for one. I like libraries to begin with, anyway..."Like!"

Nah, I'm on a mid-gaming laptop so it would be unplayable.

Plus I'm a jack of all trades crafter, I like to get all the mats and make all the parts instead of buying them....so yeah alot of writing...

You can play it on Steam, like I do, and use the Steam browser (which works perfectly fine). Or just don't play it in fullscreen mode. But yeah, I agree not lettig us alt+tab is pretty dumb.

Yeah and there are so many off limit areas in the game already, they could make any place into it.

Ishgard would be ideal though, it looks too huge not to have one.

Who knows though, the SE Devs might not be capable of such a small and meaningless feat

    What I don't get is...

Why aren't they accessible in game anyway?

It's not like they're game cheats that you go to gamefaqs to search for or something.
This is an important piece of this game.

Is it hard to copy and paste it into word format or something and put them all ingame?

Why should I have to look outside the game to participate in it?

Those questions blow through my mind.

It's like researching or doing homework for a game lol.
