Question on HUD scaling with resolution changes

So here's the plan, I am going to setup steam streaming to my samsung 700t tablet that only goes up to 1920x1080 from my gaming pc that is set to 2560x1080. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with something like this and whether the UI elements will scale proportionately to 1920x1080 from 2560x1080. I really dont want to spend the time to move my UI around wverytime i want to stream to the tablet.

    It's a good question.
In theory, you shouldn't have to do anything as the UI currently adjusts automatically to your current resolution.
I run the game at 2560x1440 but often drop it to 1080P and it automatically adjusts.

In practice, though I don't have any personal experience with what you plan on doing (Just yet); I foresee one major issue.
Your game/client will see your primary desktop/system as the primary display driver. Thus, if you stream that resolution at say, for example, 1440P to a 1080P device, it will simply stream the 1080P portion found in the center of your 1440P screen and it will not adjust your UI, either.

A solution to this issue would be to lower your PC resolution to match that of your portable device.
This should stream the proper resolution and adjust the UI at the same time.

Hopefully someone with actual practice in this matter responds to you.
I'll be trying this in a few weeks, though. So if you haven't gotten a response, I'll try to come back to your thread.

Nevermind the UI elements...the game does not support multiple simultaneous resolutions so when you stream to the tablet it's going to crunch that 2560x1080 image into the 16:9 aspect of the tablet unless the tablet letterboxes the image. If you don't change the resolution in the game itself the UI elements will retain their scale. If you change the resolution in the game to 1920x1080 the UI elements will start to overlap each other as they are sprites of a fixed pixel dimension (If your hotbar is 800 pixels wide it will go from taking up 1/3d of the screen width in 2560x1080 to close to half in 1920x1080).

That was my thought as well. My tablet came today and im still at work so i havent been able to mess with it yet. From what i was reading, you can set a resolution in the streaming settings somewhere but again, im not sure how that affects the set resolution in game. I would assume it would be the same issue with the SHIELD as well then. Thanks you for the replies.

With any luck there's a setting to make it letterbox so the image doesn't get vertically stretched from being squeezed into the shorter aspect ratio. The black bars shouldn't be too large and the UI elements will look proper without having to adjust the game itself (which will force you to adjust all the UI elements manually). Depending on the size of some of your UI elements though they may be hard to read on the smaller screen.

You were correct Lithera, it actually scales the entire screen down to fit the 11.6 in screen on the tablet. However it still looks and plays great using the steam streaming from my desktop. I was pretty surprised, there was no lag at all. Even had my DS4 connected to the tablet. I havent tried actually doing any dungeons or anything since i have two days of updates to do with it being Windows 8...

The game HUD can't get big enough and is unplayably tiny in 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution.

Sure it can, you're just not close enough. ie at any given resolution and screen size, there's an optimal viewing distance for things like this.

Well, Illya is right in a sense.
If you don't use alt + home to increase the size of the UI elements, it does look pretty darn tiny, even on 1440P sometimes. On 4K I imagine it looks super tiny/probably unplayable.
But you can increase the size of the elments. The annoying part, is that it still uses the default/base resolution even if you increase the size. So basically, you'll be looking a grossly enlarged pixels that look equally as gross.

I run 2560x1600, and my UI elements are at the default size. Not tiny in the slightest. Proper viewing distance is very important at higher resolutions.
