    Concerning Mage Changes: Jobs of the future!

    I realize right now healing is difficult for a variety of reasons. Increase enmity, increased mp costs.... Right, I understand its tougher than before.

    But maybe this is just giving the new job system a chance to shine a couple patches down the road. For example, when WHM is implemented, what do you think they're going to excel in? Healing. If you ask me throughput is not an issue with our current class system. So what will they improve upon? Perhaps the WHM will be given cheaper heals, draw less enmity from them, recieve a new healing spell arsenal, or a combination thereof.

    It would make sense that a job they designed to specialize would be better than its more versatile predecessor.

    On the other hand, you have to ask yourself if you think this content was designed for a new job system in mind. Another question would be how well the mage classes can solo after 1.18, if you go by job>party; class>solo I have no idea on either.

    Just my thoughts.

    This is exactly what I had been thinking. I imagine it would be similar to how scholar worked in FFXI. I.e. activating Light Arts reduced MP cost, etc., and increased appropriate skills. I'd be very happy if this was involved.

    I think WHM is more or less reserved for party play. In fact all the jobs are intended for party play. While classes are for solo play. So if you wanted to solo I bet you'd hafta go out and level as a THM or CON. /speculation

    Yoshida has said that jobs will be for party play. Meaning you will most likely still be soloing as a plain conjurer, not with your white mage bonuses.

    It's very possible to solo efficiently as a conjurer, curing isn't an issue there. I haven't tested out curing in a group too much but I guess the white mage could get enmity down, cheaper cures, and faster cures to make them better for groups. Of course at the cost of damage and other things.

    This is kind of what I have been blabbing my LS's ear off for the last few days with. The example I used was something like this.

    CON (WHM/BLM): WHM: x2 Spell Cost Reduction of Healing/Buffing spells, Enimty Reduced while casting said spells. Offensive spells x2 cost. Vice versa for BLM.

    THM (RDM/ARCANIST): Refresh/increased Acc with Debuffs/Potency. *Arcanist* Speculation~

    GLAD (PLD/???Something Offensive): Def+ Atk- Increase Healing potential, Buffs str increased def.

    And so on with MRD being DRK/WAR, RNG being ARC/MSK, LNC being DRG/SAM, PUG being THF/MNK

    Now of course this leave out files that were data mined in Beta; for example: Assassin, or the "whip" user. Anyways, I really hope it turns out something like this.

    It was mentioned that each class will only unlock one job at the time of implementation.
